In 1960, only 22% of black kids grew up in single parent homes. Four out of five black kids lived with both parents. Thirty years later, after the liberal welfare state, that number had more than tripled. That tripling was not due to the legacy of slavery. - Thomas Sowell

You want some credibility on this issue? Tell us whether you’d push for LWOP. Tell us what policies you’d change if the perp turned out to have been out on pretrial release, probation, or parole. Tell us what policies should change if the perp turns out to be an illegal immigrant with a detainer request that NYS/C authorities chose not to honor last time he was in custody. Tell us what policies should change if it turns out the perp has multiple prior arrests, or previous mental health-related hospitalizations.
This is outrageous and unacceptable. No New Yorker should have to fear such violence. I’m praying for a swift recovery for Katie, and keeping her family in my thoughts. I urge anyone with information to contact @NYPDTips. nbcnewyork.com/brooklyn/runn…

AUSTIN MAN gets arrested for felony organized retail theft, then hits two South Austin HEBs while that case sits. Prosecutors respond by downgrading the felony to a misdemeanor, and a judge sets his bond on two of the new cases at $1. Michael Scott Pepper started May by pleading guilty to felony drug possession, and trespassing and evading arrest. Two weeks later he was arrested for felony retail theft. Ten days after that, he walked out of the HEB on South Congress with $118 in groceries. Then he got arrested for trespassing again, and the County Attorney Delia Garza declined the charge. Two weeks later he took $221 in groceries from the HEB. Then DA Jose Garza's office downgraded his felony to a misdemeanor. Now he's under court order to stay 200 yards away from both stores. 12 cases in 16 months.

There’s a reason Justin Pearson behaves the way he does. It started in the home. “‘According to the report, the witness “advised that the suspect Kimberly Owens Pearson came to the voting site yelling and causing a disturbance,” and “kept refusing to leave no matter how many times the victim” asked her to leave the premises.”

Haley Stevens was going to do a Democratic unity rally with Abdul El-Sayed and James Clyburn where she was going to encourage her supporters, many of whom have serious reservations about El-Sayed, to vote for him. This was very important for El-Sayed, because Stevens is popular among Jewish and black Michigan Democrats and Clyburn is an icon among black voters nationwide. El-Sayed has weakness with both of these groups and needs to shore them up going into election day. Stevens's condition was that he make an unambiguous, unqualified condemnation of the antisemitic rhetoric his friends, supporters and surrogates have been using, including in ads run in Michigan. El-Sayed refused to do this, and instead asked Stevens not to appear at the event. At that point, Stevens realized that he was not interested in unity with her or her supporters and that she could no longer support him for Senate. El-Sayed is an antisemite. He is friends with antisemites Hasan Piker and Cenk Uygur. He will not condemn them. He will not condemn the awful things they say. He has had multiple opportunities to condemn their hateful rhetoric, and he always says: "He is not part of a campaign, nobody speaks for me but me, and I'm not here to talk about that." That's not good enough. If that is how a Republican talked about Nick Fuentes or Richard Spencer, it would be the biggest controversy in the race. The fact that so many Democrats are willing to tolerate this from Abdul El-Sayed is an indictment of the entire party. There is no coalition that can include both the Jewish Democratic members of Temple Israel and supporters of the Hezbollah terrorist who tried to murder their preschool children. Abdul El-Sayed made a decision about who he wanted in his tent. Haley Stevens was late to realize it, but it is admirable that she finally decided to be an upstander instead of a bystander. No Nazis in the US Senate.

Genuinely struggling even to construct a theory of mind for this beyond "Abdul told me not to come to his campaign event so fuck him." None of the Hasan Piker stuff is even remotely new!

What is a birth program? How would it be constitutional if it’s only offered to Black & Latina women with taxpayer money?
Austin is paying $4.6 million for a birth program for Black and Latina women co-founded by a city Equity Office employee. The group’s vision: “Woman of color sisterhood disrupting capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and institutional abuse.” It’s “open to anyone who identifies as BIPOC.” Kellee Coleman, the co-founder of the group, works in the Equity Office. The group is Mama Sana/Vibrant Woman. Another co-founder co-chaired the city’s 2020 Reimagining Public Safety Task Force that led to police defunding.

It’s almost always the same.
Another criminal illegal immigrant coddled by an uninformed activist politician and mainstream media —@washingtonpost and @RepMenendez it took me two minutes to look up your “little league coach” to find his record: On October 18, 2026, Amaury Jose Monsalve Figuera (a Venezuelan national known as "Coach A") was stopped by D.C. police for allegedly running a red light while working as a chauffeur with several passengers; officers reported finding an unregistered handgun, ammunition, an open container of alcohol, and a bag of white powder identified as cocaine, leading to the arrest of Monsalve and the passengers.

This debate over noncitizens on California’s voter rolls could be resolved in under a day if California simply used the same federal database it has relied on for 40 years to confirm Medi-Cal applicants’ citizenship. California has raised no issues with this database for Medi-Cal, so why not use it to check voter eligibility. Noncitizens voting is illegal under federal and state law. California could quickly run its unredacted voter rolls through the federal citizenship database. 34 states already do this to confirm noncitizens aren’t voting, giving everyone confidence in the upcoming election results. What is California afraid of?

Just a reminder that New York is the only state in the union that categorically prohibits judges from considering the dangers posed by a defendant to the public in every aspect of the retrial release inquiry.

It’s time for regular people to take matters into their own hands if they want justice. Also, make these judges afraid to pass such sentences. If that means some of them suffer the same fate as the victims they ignore, then so be it.

The answer is, alas: No. We cannot dispel the sociological nonsense that education and poverty improvements are the only way to tackle crime. It is a matter of faith. And an entire academic field founded on and vested in the idea that people lack agency.
Homicides drop to record levels while Philadelphia’s poverty rate climbs and we close schools. Can we now dispel the sociological nonsense that education and poverty improvements are the only ways to tackle crime?

You ever notice how a lot of the same decarcerationists who justify their desire to keep people out of prison by saying “No one should be forever defined by the worst thing they’ve ever done,” almost always define the America and her Founders by their worst sins?

Her bio shows she was appointed by Trump and other Republicans throughout her career. She’s unfit, duped a lot of people along the way and has no business being a judge.
A judge bullies a lawyer she thinks is white, but is actually Latino, calling him a “chad” and “Mr. Social Media, Main Character Chad, White Hero, Savior, Loves to Help Black People Be An Ally.” The percentage of unhinged educated people one encounters these days is disconcerting. This account goes on and on. She doesn’t think she was out of line.

There’s a really great book called Being Wrong that opens up with a story just like this.
This is William F. Buckley engaged in friendly banter with Edgar Smith on his show Firing Line in 1971. Smith had been convicted of abducting and murdering a 15 year old girl in 1957 - and sentenced to death. Buckley was impressed with Smith's writing ability and became persuaded he was innocent. He supported him financially, and worked to have him freed. He succeeded in this, and then immediately had him on his television show. A few years later, Smith abducted a woman in San Diego at knife point, forced her into his car, and then stabbed her in the chest. She managed to get free from him, but Smith went back to jail, where he only died in 2017 on the taxpayer's dime. Had be been executed back in New Jersey, this woman would never have met Smith. We hear a lot from the Innocence Project about people being let out of jail on technicalities who may be innocent - and might not be. But we don't hear enough about the cases where people intervene to get guilty people released, who then go on and victimize others. A little more balance would be good.
