The Beastie Boys started as a hardcore punk band in 1981, long before the hip-hop fame. That instinct roared back on '92's Check Your Head, when they became a live band again. "So What'cha Want" is from it. Here's Mike D throwing it back at a free pop-up set in Baltimore, 17 years after the band's last concert.

The world is sadly a worse place for losing Dolly Parton! Her heart was greater than her voice & she had one of the great voices of all time #RIPDolly
In 1988 Dolly Parton pulled every 7th and 8th grader in Sevier County into a room and told them to pick a buddy. She made them sign a contract.. if BOTH graduate, she hands you both $500. One fails, nobody gets paid. The county dropout rate went from 35% to 6%. She handed out the checks herself. In 1989 she offered $500 to every kid in the county who wanted to go to the local college. When Gatlinburg burned in 2016, she sent 900 families $1,000 a month for six months. You've probably heard that part. Here's the part you haven't: The fund raised more than expected, so she showed up in May and handed every one of those families another $5,000 on top. Then she quietly put $3 million into the recovery group that handles the years after the news trucks leave. She built her county an entire hospital. She played a benefit concert in 2007, Dollywood and the Stampede matched it, and LeConte Medical Center opened in 2010 with a birthing unit and a women's center in it. In 2022 she started covering 100% of tuition, books, and fees for Dollywood employees. Full-time, part-time, AND seasonal. In 1991 she paid for a bald eagle sanctuary because the birds couldn't be released back into the wild, no press release. And when Hurricane Helene came through here in Western North Carolina, she wrote a personal check for $1 million and her companies matched it. She didn't owe North Carolina anything, but she helped us anyway. She started the Imagination Library because her daddy couldn't read or write. Before he passed, he told her it was the most important thing she ever did. Rest in Peace, Dolly 🇺🇸

My 2 favorite living poker players playing Billy’s factor game - Deuce to 7 I had the pleasure of meeting both in the last 2 years and each was exactly the type of human I expected them to be And hearing Billy tell stories was 🔥 RIP to Chip Reese who’s my other favorite
11 left in the deuce, honor to be playing with Billy Baxter. Some of you guys don't know, especially the youngsters but aside from being one of the greatest lowball players ever, Billy argued a gambling income tax case in front of the Supreme Court and won lol. They were comin for his poker money he said hold up, and charmed the government 😭. Still topical today though, and he was of course right. Let's work

This is a spot on description of the insanity of our current administration Can we get these self serving sycophants?
The Iranian navy, which has been destroyed eight times, has apparently closed the Strait of Hormuz again, because the United States, for the seventh time, won the war that wasn’t a war, so now the United States has to open the Strait of Hormuz that was already open before the not-war began. The not-war began because Iran had uranium that was totally, completely, beautifully obliterated, so they can’t build the nuclear bomb they weren’t building, which is why the United States had to start the not-war it definitely didn’t start. Now the United States, which has nuclear weapons, is threatening to use nuclear weapons to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons, because nuclear weapons are far too dangerous for countries with nuclear weapons to allow other countries to have. If the United States saw the United States doing what the United States does in other countries, the United States would invade the United States to liberate the United States from the tyranny of the United States.

LASIK eye surgery cost $2,200 per eye in 2000. Today it's around $1,000 per eye despite 24 years of inflation. Meanwhile, an MRI that cost $1,200 in 2000 now costs $3,000+. The difference? LASIK operates in a free market with no insurance interference and minimal regulation. When patients pay directly, providers must compete on price and quality. LASIK clinics advertise prices, offer financing, and constantly improve technology to attract customers. Compare this to hospital procedures where prices are hidden, patients never see bills, and insurance companies negotiate opaque rates that somehow always increase faster than inflation. Cosmetic surgery follows the same pattern. Breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, and other elective procedures have become more affordable and safer over decades. Surgeons invest in better techniques and equipment because they must satisfy paying customers, not insurance bureaucrats or hospital administrators focused on maximizing reimbursements. The lesson is clear: remove third-party payment systems and excessive regulation, and you get Austrian economics in action. Prices fall, quality rises, and innovation accelerates. Healthcare costs aren't rising because of aging populations or new technology—they're rising because we've destroyed the price mechanism that makes markets work.

Fuck ICE, Fuck Trump & Fuck You If this doesn’t deeply disturb you! This isn’t political in any way - This is about power & control And I will never acquiesce to tyranny!
Jessica Hauser, Alex Pretti’s final nursing student, posted this on Facebook: “I was Alex Pretti’s final nursing student. He was my friend and my nursing mentor. For the past four months, I stood shoulder to shoulder with him during my capstone preceptorship at the Minneapolis VA Hospital. There he trained me to care for the sickest of the sick as an ICU nurse. He taught me how to care for arterial and central lines, the intricacies of managing multiple IVs filled with lifesaving solutions, and how to watch over every heartbeat, every breath, and every flicker of life, ready to act the moment they wavered. Techniques intended to heal. Alex carried patience, compassion and calm as a steady light within him. Even at the very end, that light was there. I recognized his familiar stillness and signature calm composure shining through during those unbearable final moments captured on camera. It does not surprise me that his final words were, “Are you okay?” Caring for people was at the core of who he was. He was incapable of causing harm. He lived a life of healing, and he lived it well. Alex believed strongly in the Second Amendment and in the rights rooted in our Constitution and its amendments. He spoke out for justice and peace whenever he could, not only out of obligation, but out of a belief that we are more connected than divided, and that communication would bring us together. I want his family to know his legacy lives on. I am a better nurse because of the wisdom and skills he instilled in me. I carry his light with me into every room, letting it guide and steady my hands as I heal and care for those in need. Please honor my friend by standing up for peace, preferably with a cup of black coffee in hand and a couple of pieces of candy in your pocket, just as he would. He would remind you that caring for others is hard work, and we must do whatever it takes to get through the long shifts. Step outside with your dog, breathe in the world, hike or bike as he loved to do, and let yourself find peace in the quiet moments within nature. Stand up for justice and speak with those whose views differ from your own. Hold your beliefs with strength, but always extend love outward, even in the face of adversity. Take one step, no matter how small, to help heal our world. Through these acts, carry his light forward in his name. Let his legacy continue to heal.”

This has always been a favorite poem of mine because it’s exactly how I feel Don’t ever relent to death - Fight until your last breath - Life is too precious & beautiful to give up This is the best reading I’ve heard - Great job by Michael Sheen
Actor Michael Sheen delivers a powerful performance of Dylan Thomas’s 1951 poem, "Do not go gentle into that good night.”

Our whole country needs more of this attitude!
Holy shit! This is what I'm talkin' about. David Clayton is running for congress in North Carolina's District 5 against MAGA Republican Virginia Foxx — and this is how he introduced himself. 🙌💪👏✊️👇

This is so great! Thanks Kevin for both Jim’s story & yours - Ditka just gets life
An unbelievable BADASSES from Jim Nantz on MIKE DITKA who he noticed only carried $100 bills on him during the time they did TV together. Ditka would pay for everything with the hundred and let them keep the change. Listen why. An all-time story from Nantz on Da Coach.

I wish all politicians were ideologues - Voting strict party line is idiotic & weak
Ideologues like @RepThomasMassie are loyal to a philosophy and good ideas, while the partisans are loyal only to their party.
