Behind every child crossing the street is someone waiting to see them walk through the door.
As we head back to school, please slow down, stay alert, put the phone down, and watch for children.
Because someone is waiting for them to come home.

Suffolk County Police Highway Patrol Bureau Officers Keith Jansen and John Puzelli recently came to the aid of an injured hawk found in the median of Sunrise Highway in Mastic.
The hawk was unable to fly due to an injured wing, and after several attempts, Officer Jansen safely secured the bird using an emergency blanket. The hawk was then transported to West Islip Animal Hospital for treatment.
Great work by our Suffolk County Police Officers, who are always ready to answer the call—no matter who needs help.
