"I don't know" is not an acceptable answer when it comes to keeping 3.8 million people safe.
NEW: Who is an example of a police chief that Nithya Raman really respects or admires?
"I don't know...I don't know."
Raman is now apologizing for her recent debate remarks that LAPD Chief Daryl Gates was a "gold standard" for his handling of immigration. Critics accuse Gates of racist policies.
"It was a mistake to reference his name at all. I was trying to make a point and I fumbled that point. That point was not to praise Daryl Gates in any shape or form. I sincerely apologize for mentioning his name. I know it causes real pain for so many people across Los Angeles and I shouldn't have said it."
Raman has said she wants to dismiss current LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell but has not floated any names of potential replacements.
We'll have a lot more with Raman coming soon on @CNNTheStoryIs

WATCH: Radical Abdul El-Sayed says some of his positions on defunding the police, abolishing prisons, and ending cash bail are "really good."
If elected, this guy will make Michigan a very dangerous place.
The stakes are high. Republicans, get out and vote.

Dems regaining control and then immediately reverting to lawfare against Musk will backfire — and will remind voters why they didn’t like the Democrats when they were in the majority the last time.

I just caught up on some of the recent posts from @DataRepublican, and they’re chilling—not primarily because they outline a violent uprising, but because they reveal a strategy of manufacturing a constitutional crisis in which states declare the federal government illegitimate. What’s alarming is the sheer ignorance and hubris of the people treating this as a workable path. They appear to believe such a rupture can be contained or directed, yet they show little understanding of either American history or the practical consequences of delegitimizing the federal order.
The people driving this approach are largely led by academics who have never borne responsibility for real-world outcomes, military officers who couldn’t produce a coherent strategy to win a twenty-year war, and former intelligence officials whose records inspire little confidence. They seem prepared to sacrifice institutional stability—and the young idealists who would be drawn into the resulting chaos—while remaining safely removed from the fallout themselves.
What they fail to grasp is that the Constitution is not merely a set of rules that can be voided by state declaration. It is bound to the oaths of those sworn to defend it and to the habits of a population raised on the Bill of Rights. America is not Europe, China, or any other society in which a central authority can be nullified with limited resistance. Attempts to engineer a crisis of legitimacy will not remain a matter of legal posturing. They will collide with people who take their oaths seriously, and the resulting contest over authority is unlikely to stay bloodless.
The American Civil War remains the deadliest conflict in U.S. history. Roughly 2% of the population died—men, women, and children—in what was, by historical standards, a relatively conventional war fought between uniformed armies. Scaled to today’s population, that figure approaches 7.5 million dead. A modern breakdown in which states and the federal government treat one another as illegitimate would almost certainly be worse: a grinding conflict fought in neighborhoods, towns, and cities, where the line between friend and enemy would be unclear and ordinary life would become impossible. Anyone of consequence would carry a target, and trust would collapse.
This is not a call for violence. It is a plea to avoid the conditions that make violence probable. Many of us have seen what war actually does, and we understand the cost that would be imposed on the next generation because some believe their preferred political outcome can be forced by creating a crisis of legitimacy. Trump leaves office in two years. If the goal is to alter the constitutional order, the Framers already provided the mechanism for doing so. Use it. Do not manufacture a crisis that invites states to treat the federal government as illegitimate while others pay the price.
As Sherman put it: “It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, more vengeance, more desolation. War is hell.”

Clip of the night:
Mike Rogers points out that El-Sayed signed a 2012 statement urging Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood president, Mohamed Morsi, "to purge the media and the police."
Abdul El-Sayed desperately tries to change the subject to the freedom to worship under the Constitution.
Perhaps he's hoping voters don't understand the difference between Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood.

A 47-foot-wide hole in one California dam’s spillway has reportedly gone unrepaired for more than 30 years. With an El Niño winter approaching, an audit found 57 dams in poor or unsatisfactory condition. Share this anyone who follows California water and flood safety. Story link in first comment.
California State Auditor’s Report 2025-603 (released around mid-October 2026) found that, as of May 2026, 57 of the state’s roughly 1,222 jurisdictional dams were in poor or unsatisfactory condition. Of those, 40 carry high or extremely high hazard ratings. The auditor warned that failures of the riskiest ones could collectively endanger as many as 1.5 million people and cause more than $265 billion in economic damage, with many clustered near the Bay Area, San Diego, and Los Angeles areas. Repair costs for dams in less-than-satisfactory condition were estimated at around $28 billion.
The report specifically noted one dam with a 47-foot-wide hole in its spillway that has gone unrepaired for more than 30 years. The audit said this could cause flooding affecting nearly 300 people and more than $88 million in damage. The dam is not named, with state water officials citing security concerns (though condition and hazard ratings for individual dams are published in annual reports).
Context includes the approaching El Niño winter and potential for heavy rains. The Department of Water Resources has had expanded enforcement authority (reservoir restrictions, liens, fines, etc.) since 2017 legislation after the Oroville spillway near-failure, but the audit found it has never taken punitive enforcement actions despite referring owners of dozens of dams. Staffing, funding, and other constraints were cited. Many issues stem from aging infrastructure built under older standards and owners’ inability to fund repair

Exactly and many of us don’t support these far left DSA radical socialist policies.
And we’re not shifting further left down that rabbit hole with Islamic extremists, terrorist sympathizers, no border, no deportations, unlimited immigration, no police, no military, no choice in President ourselves, and no Constitution.
I have absolutely no confidence that Democrats have the willpower to stop DSA.
And Idgaf who they go get to campaign for Abdul, a socialist, or a DSA member. NOPE 👎🏽

California uses the SAVE system to check citizenship status for Medi-Cal benefits. It could easily do the same for its voter rolls. It’s refusing. Why?

Michigan is no stranger to republicans who are moderate and stand up to the worst impulses of Trump. Given his real outreach to Democratic voters, especially Black and Jewish, this is an easy choice.

Well, he walked RIGHT into that one.
Absolutely lethal.
Democrat Abdul El-Sayed tried to take a sneaky shot at Republican Mike Rogers over corporate donations during their debate, only to have Rogers completely flip the script on him moments later.
Rogers EXPOSED El-Sayed for going straight to Chuck Schumer to BEG for corporate money — while attacking Rogers over the very same issue.
ROGERS: “It’s a little bit rich to me that my opponent talks about corporate donations…”
“He snuck into Chuck Schumer’s office, and asked and begged for corporate money.”
“And you see it on TV today. $35 million of corporate PAC money flowing all over this state.”
“It’s hypocritical.”
That was a mic drop moment.

🚨 Mayor Mamdani this is on you. Another Jew stabbed in broad daylight in Midtown. A Lubavitcher from Crown Heights was attacked from behind near 5th Ave & W 47th St (5:30pm). Hatzalah treated him on scene; he’s stable at Bellevue.
Suspect (white woman, 30s, 5’9”, blue jeans, white sneakers, dark sweater tied at waist) fled toward 6th Ave. Authorities are reportedly treating it as a suspected hate crime.
This is not isolated. In July, Raul Morales was charged with hate-crime attempted murder after stabbing a Jewish man (and an Asian man) on the Upper West Side while yelling “Allahu Akbar” and “Justice for Islam,” near synagogues. Jews remain the top target of NYC hate crimes under Mayor Mamdani.
How many more before the climate changes?
