$2 million a day. Who's paying for nuclear waste to stay put? 💸
The federal government was legally required to start taking spent fuel in 1998. 28 years later, 3.6 million pounds of it is still at San Onofre, 100 feet from the ocean.

What is nuclear waste? ☢️
It's the used uranium fuel from a nuclear reactor. When that fuel comes out, it's still highly radioactive, and it has to be kept away from people and the environment for thousands of years.
