Kudos to @SOsbild, @MirandaSinnArm and @ben_droguet with @SparxelI for being featured in the latest issue of Chem@Cam @ChemCambridge. 👏🫐🌱✨

Thank you @ChemCambridge for having me!😄 Hope you all could learn something about the colourful life of #scientists @VignoliniLab 🌈🧪🔬
Welcome Sonja Osbild who is taking over our twitter account for this week, letting you know everything about studying a PhD in #chemistry #WomenInScience #HiMyNameIs @SOsbild @VignoliniLab
It was a beautiful blast 💥🫧🎉
Mysteries are unravelled at our Open Day for @Cambridge_Fest🤩 @VignoliniLab @BalluKevin

It was so much fun and such a great gamification of quasicrystals - thank you (from a chemist who has learnt about quasicrystals before)!
After 2 years of covid cancellations, it was amazing to finally introduce a board game where players explore the 4d physics of quasicrystals for #CamFest.
We had a fantastic turnout and such enthusiastic participants! Thanks @JesusCollegeCam @IntellForum for hosting!

ALT Photograph of the inside of a library with a curved white ceiling, wooden bookshelves and a blue carpet. There is a floor-to-ceiling window in the centre and two white banners with a red logo and the text 'Jesus College Cambridge' are either side of the window. Outside of these are two computer screens showing the title slide for a presentation with the text 'Walking in four dimensions'. There are people sitting around tables and two people standing at the front of the room, one of them (me!) standing behind a small desk with a laptop introducing the presentation.

On a personal note 👩🏾🔬(2): Cambridge🇬🇧 is an incredibly #international place🌍 In @VignoliniLab we speak around a dozen languages 🔊 - a #multicultural place ideal for me, as I grew up trilingually/biculturally 🇩🇪🇹🇼 and have lived in 🇫🇷🇪🇸🇹🇼🇨🇭 #polyglot

On a personal note👩🏻🔬 There is no singular way into #research.🧪🧬🦠 #internships in industry and @cicCartuja in Sevilla and #teaching German in #Taiwan were essential to recalibrate my life goals🎯 and find my #scientifc #passion. It is and always will be chemistry💕

[The facts] The #glitter is made from #cellulose #nanocrystals (CNC). While most plants contain cellulose, it is mostly extracted from wood, as wood contains the highest cellulose content*

Bacterial #cellulose🧫 (BC) is a natural biofilm. It contains over 99% of water💧 within its network while keeping its superior mechanical performance. BC could be useful for many applications in our everyday life, such as wound dressings, living textiles or photobioreactors.

We all know Kombucha, a tasty beverage originating from East Asia.🍵 During Kombucha fermentation, bacterial #cellulose (BC) emerges as a side product. This BC is drawing increasing attention in #materialsscience.
