Harold Reynolds says Barry Bonds could read a pitcher’s grip before the ball was thrown and tell what pitch was coming from the on-deck circle “He was in a class with guys like Roberto Alomar and Rod Carew, guys I had heard about and been around, who could read pitch grips better than anybody. Barry was on that level.” “Rod Carew was my hitting coach in Anaheim when I played for the Angels. He’d walk up and down the dugout and say, ‘You guys don’t see it. I see what y’all don’t see.’ The pitcher would be sitting there, and Rod would say, ‘Changeup.’ Next thing you know, the guy throws a changeup. I’m like, ‘He hasn’t even moved yet, Rod.’ And he’d say, ‘You guys don’t see it.’” “Barry was on that level. So as a pitcher, you’re facing a guy who is probably picking up every pitch you’re throwing.” Jake Peavy: “Barry Bonds would be in the on-deck circle against me, and he’d just be leaning there. No swing, no nothing. Just watching. Sitting there, waiting. I’m thinking, ‘Let me show him something different.’ I’m telling you, he would get off that ledge, and if you threw him a strike, it was going deep.”

Jeff Bagwell’s 1994 season was cut short twice, but his dominance was undeniable. He was named the unanimous National League Most Valuable Player following a campaign that saw him produce 39 homers, 116 RBI and a .750 slugging percentage. ow.ly/qFai5101wu4

Al Harrington said the quiet part out loud years ago that still ends the GOAT debate today... Jordan DOMINATED an era where everybody hated each other. 🐐 LeBron had to team up with other Superstars just to compete in the CUPCAKE era. 😂 There's always been levels to this. 🔥

There is next level, then there is next dimension. Holy cow.
It's one of baseball’s most iconic records: For 2,632 straight games over 17 seasons, Cal Ripken Jr. never missed a day in the Baltimore Orioles’ lineup. For the past 28 years, lifelong Orioles fan Rick Taylor has been amassing a collection to match it, trying to gather a ticket from each game of Ripken's “Iron Man” streak, which lasted from 1982 to 1998. After decades of searching, Taylor is just eight tickets short of completing what experts agree is already one of the most impressive collections of baseball tickets ever assembled.
