“Growing up, it was always God, family, and baseball. There were a lot of late nights practicing, a lot of traveling, and sometimes it was hard to get to church. But my parents helped me build a foundation on a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. “I always had a testimony, but I hadn’t read the Book of Mormon all the way through. I believed what my parents told me. They’re really smart, and their testimonies are strong. Then I got drafted, and I thought, ‘All right, I probably need to read this for myself.’ “One of the guys I was drafted with shared my faith. We became roommates and studied the scriptures together. As I read, I received personal revelation. That’s when my testimony really became stronger. I could see Heavenly Father’s hand in putting someone like that in my life. “Reading helped me strengthen my testimony, and living what I believed gave me more opportunities to recognize His hand. “My mom had talked to me about tithing before I even had a job. She told me about the blessings she’d seen and encouraged me to pay it. So I did. As I’ve kept that commitment, I’ve learned that the blessings can be physical, too. For me, being able to play baseball at my best is a blessing I connect directly to paying my tithing. “Playing at an elite level still has its ups and downs. After a good year, I had a rough year. Sometimes you’re asking Heavenly Father, ‘Please help me,’ and you forget how much He’s already helped. Looking back helped me recognize the opportunities and blessings He had already given me. “That same commitment to living my faith carries into how I take care of myself. Living the Word of Wisdom is a choice I made early. I’ve never wanted to drink or smoke. In high school, I watched people try vaping, get addicted, and struggle to stop. I didn’t want to find myself in that situation, and I’m grateful I made that decision before I ever started playing professionally. “So when we were celebrating with the team and there wasn’t any sparkling cider, I opened the fridge, saw some Fanta in glass bottles, and grabbed a couple. I didn’t even want to hold alcohol because I didn’t want to give the impression I was drinking it. Then everybody started sending me pictures of their Fanta. “Reading the Book of Mormon, paying my tithing, and living the Word of Wisdom are commitments I carry with me. As I’ve lived them, the foundation my parents helped me build in the gospel of Jesus Christ has become stronger through my own experiences. “Heavenly Father has really shown His hand in my life.” —Cooper

Yet no other sport thinks this way. And actually by increasing the field you increase the number of teams that COULD win due to more single elimination rounds.
There are seven, tops, this year and in reality its probably one or two less than that.

The closest thing to a guarantee play call is a QB sneak on 4th and 1 and no college team has a better QB for it than BYU and yet they refused to do it twice and failed both attempts. This was a 30 point dominant win that denying simple decisions turned into just 14 pt victory.

Respectively senator it is true for one very narrow definition of “science” which is “sleep science” but runs counter to all the other things that we know is good for health: more vitamin D, spending more time outside, being more active. “Science” is much more broad than sleep.
Senator Cotton is right. Permanent Daylight Savings has been tried and Americans didn’t like it. The better way is permanent Standard Time because it’s based on science. No dark mornings, it keeps our time in sync with the Sun, and no more changing the clocks. Arizona has been on Standard Time year round since 1968 without issue.

Double Stuf Oreos aren't double stuffed. A high school math teacher in Queensbury, New York had his class weigh 10 of each kind, then weigh the plain wafers separately and subtract them out. Double Stuf came in at 1.86 times the filling of a regular Oreo. Mega Stuf came in at 2.68. Nabisco said the recipe calls for double the creme and they weren't familiar with what happened in the classroom. Insider ran the same test later and got about the same number.

Sources: The NFL will provide clarity to clubs later today regarding league rules governing player eligibility that have been in place and remain unaltered. A player that goes back to college this season will be prohibited from signing with an NFL team this year. A player signed to an NFL contract who is subsequently cut is a free agent. He may sign with another NFL club, the CFL or return to college, but that player is considered a free agent and will not be subject to a future draft.

This is not a comment directed at @throwthedamball (great follow, definitely check out his work) but rather #sportsanalytics community: flipping axes so that upper right corner is considered the best part should be a #datavizcrime! We want LOWER sacks/pressures!

When people say that “science” favors standard time they are really saying “sleep science” and that is true. Health is much more than sleep. Evening daylight scientifically is a huge bonus (for kids and adults) to mental health and physical health. 1/2

The extra hour in the afternoon in the winter is an extra hour of daylight for *almost* the entire population. The extra hour of darkness in the morning is extra actual darkness for a very small subset of people. Majority of kids always went to school in the dark all winter. 2/2

I still think people are underdiscussing Mbappé's world cup career so far. In his 16 starts at the World Cup, France is - 15 wins, 0 losses, 1 draw (penalty shootouts officially are draws). - '22 Final only one that went extra time - 18 goals (only 2 pens/0 free kicks)

Since I'm not @espn anymore, I am only speculating here but it seems to me that people are increasingly using the "smart" bracket to simulate via BPI/ESPN Analytics. Public picked Duke, UM, & UF very close to BPI #. Public higher on Arizona, lower on Houston.

Ecological regression fallacy. Correlations of averages are always much higher than individual data points (which would be each individual drive).
It's been a decade, but I am still mesmerized that you can fit this with an exponential equation to an R^2 of 0.98. About as close to gospel truth you can get in sports analytics.
