BREAKING: @RaysBaseball Execute Blockbuster Mascot Trade, Rebrand as Tampa Bay Blowhards St. Petersburg, FL — In a move that shocked absolutely no one who’s been paying attention to the “Rays Way,” the Tampa Bay Rays have traded their longtime mascot Raymond to the New York @Yankees for minor-league blowfish prospect Bubbles and a bag of expired cash considerations. Raymond, who was putting up career numbers in hugs, high-fives, and between-innings dance battles this season, was deemed “too expensive to keep around for the long term” by the front office. Sources say the beloved seadog was due for a modest extension that would have pushed his plush-merchandise royalties into seven figures.
