Tenents opposing redevelopment will now be forcibly evicted if they oppose redevelopment of a building. Maharashtra Cabinet yesterday approved the amendment to Maharashtra Apartment Ownership Act to enforce eviction. On 7th July 2018 section 6 (a) was added to the Act stating that if 51% of tenents approved of redevelopment it would be enforced on all. There was no provision in the Act for the eviction of remaining 49% or less tenants, now section 6 (b) will be added to make this possible, sources said.
