A timely reminder that leadership goes beyond holding positions. It calls for active participation, informed voices and taking responsibility for the future of our nation as leaders of today. @TheJNLC @Parliament_Ug @TrevisMuhwezi
I took no offense Comrade, and in fact, your question provided a valuable learning opportunity for all of us, especially the young leaders who were present.
Actually, such a relationship between political handouts, recipient behaviour and the culture of dependency is a subject I am personally willing to understand deeply. Thanks for bringing it out.
Please forgive me ,I won’t ask again @SamBegira I won’t ask again
I see you’re adding a pinch of satire 😂
Cde. @Mwijukyeivan’s observation cannot be entirely dismissed because POLITICAL HANDOUTS condition young people into a culture of dependency, which is certainly not the culture we should be nurturing in our generation.
I strongly disagree with his suggestion that @GovUganda’s intention in introducing poverty eradication programs like PDM, is to discourage the young people from working towards an independent financial future. That is simply NOT CORRECT.
These programmes exist to provide VULNERABLE Ugandans, including young people, with a starting point to transition into the money economy, build sustainable livelihoods and eradicate poverty in their households. And I encourage us all to support these programs, and use them productively.
@Mwijukyeivan wanted to end your carrier with the tough question to do with political tokens 😂

Can we begin to look at Guild Governments not merely as student welfare and political structures, but as organised development institutions capable of mobilising human capital, influencing public policy and implementing grassroots development initiatives?
Kudos @TrevisMuhwezi

A pleasure, @SamBegira. The youths can only be happy when everything is well.
We remain convinced that getting more young people INTO the money economy is central to sustainable poverty eradication, but our transformation agenda must begin with empowering young people to create wealth, for themselves - first, their households and communities.
At the invitation of the @MakGuild Speaker, Rt. Hon. @TrevisMuhwezi, I joined a panel of young leaders at the University Leaders Convention held today at @Parliament_Ug to discuss Uganda’s economy and the role of young people, particularly university students, in shaping its future.

I encouraged fellow young entrepreneurs to explore opportunities in public procurement through @PPDAUganda’s reservation schemes, which provide dedicated opportunities for youth-owned businesses.
Our conversations reflected a generation ambitious to contribute through entrepreneurship, but equally conscious of the barriers that remain. We all agree that access to practical skills and affordable capital must therefore be prioritised.

If your loved one abroad informs you that his/her life is in danger, do not wait to lose communication completely. Get as much information as possible especially about their exact location, write it down and inform us. Through the INTERPOL communication channels we will ask the police of the country in question to locate and rescue your person.
