AWS EC2 has been blocking SMTP by default now Digital Ocean is doing the same. They claim that it is to combat spam.
I get it, IPv4 is limited and if one is used by a spammer, the next person will automatically have their IP in some block list so they have to block it.
What does this mean? The common SMTP ports 25, 465, 587 have been blocked. If you have an application that has to send emails via SMTP, you’re screwed.
You also cannot host your on mail server on Digital Ocean. This breaks email. Email was supposed to be decentralized and independent but now we are all flocking in major providers. RIP privacy. Google runs an LLM on your email content which is not encrypted.
For now, port 2525 is still open so you can use mailgun. I think going forward emails will be sent via http to bypass this stupidity further breaking email.
I hate how the internet has become. There’s little regard for privacy.

addJavascriptInterface is catastrophically insecure.
Any public method on an injected Java object (including getClass()) is callable from JavaScript, leading to full remote code execution (CVE-2012-6636, CVE-2013-4710 cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-201…)
Are we seriously encouraging people to use WebView in 2026? For auth nonetheless?
I thought WebView was this attack surface that could enable remote code execution on your app through the JS-Android layer that it provides?
Google killed legacy signin, in favour of Credentials Manager (as is tradition for Google).
These enhancements could well have fit in the legacy GoogleSignIn SDK for Android but Google just gotta kill things that people depend upon.
Juggling multiple goals is only possible through strategic planning.

Watu waandike Kotlin and Swift for mobile. Waache story mingi 😂
Must attend.
The first chapter on “Strategic Assessment” relentlessly emphasizes prioritizing analysis and evaluation before action, being aware of deceptive patterns and making an impersonal assessment of yourself as well as the challenge/opponent.
