I work in financial market regulation. I break down what AI changes in finance, geopolitics and tech. The US-China race feels like the nuclear arms race.

I work in financial market regulation. My job: let innovation grow while keeping its risks in check, before they hit. With AI, the questions are being asked. But the race is moving faster than the answers. I use it every day. It saves me hours, and it may have just cracked math problems people chased for 50 years. But the US-China race feels a lot like the US-Soviet race for the bomb: each side pushes ahead out of fear the other gets there first and worries about the risks later. In finance, we learned the hard way: the danger isn't one bad bank, it's everyone making the same bet. Now everyone runs on the same few AI models. Here, I try to make sense of the big shifts AI is driving in finance, geopolitics and tech, and break them down simply, for you and for me. Come argue with me. What’s the one AI risk you think is being underestimated right now?

I described an app idea to Grok Bot, an AI agent, and it built a working website for kids without me writing a single line of code. Most of us learned how money works the hard way, as adults. So the app is Penny Wise, a free website that teaches kids aged 10 to 13 the basics in five short lessons: needs vs wants, saving, budgeting, compound interest and spotting scams. The AI did the building, and I made the decisions. No ads and no tracking. What money lesson do you wish someone had taught you at 12?

Hey @grok, what are the 10 most likely apocalyptic scenarios inspired by TV shows? For each one, give the TV show, a one-sentence description of the scenario, the flag emoji of the country where it could happen, and its probability as a two-digit percentage. Rank them from most to least likely.

AI doesn’t equalize intelligence. It amplifies it. The more you’re able to challenge its answers, verify its sources, and sharpen your ideas, the more Grok becomes a formidable weapon. The more you swallow everything it says without pushback, the more it reinforces your mediocrity: generic style, hollow arguments, zero verification. AI is a multiplier.

🚀SpaceX went public in June at a $1.8 trillion valuation. Its stock jumped to $225 in the first week, then fell 53% by August as the excitement faded and insiders got closer to selling. Anthropic is asking for a similar valuation, based on growth its own filing says "may not be sustainable." What happens when that excitement fades too?
Anthropic just filed to go public, at a valuation discussed around $1.5 to $2 trillion. Its filing even warns that advanced AI could pose "catastrophic or existential risks to humanity." For anyone buying the stock, this IPO raises 3 big problems: 1. A risk nobody can price 2. A price that will show if the whole AI market is a bubble 3. Shareholders can't hold anyone accountable for safety decisions Let me explain. (a thread)

JUST IN: Anthropic warns its AI models could pose "catastrophic or existential risks to humanity" in IPO filing.

The third problem is accountability. Normally, one share means one vote, and unhappy shareholders can replace the board. Here, a special class of shares gives the founders 50.1% of the vote, and a separate trust elects a majority of the board. That setup is legal and common in tech. What's new is that it covers safety decisions the company itself calls existential. If something goes wrong, shareholders have no way to hold anyone accountable.

Market rules were built on one idea: tell investors everything, and let them decide. Anthropic is telling them everything. But investors can neither measure this risk nor vote on it. So is disclosure still enough to protect them, or does a risk like this need new rules?

Hey @grok, my self-driving Tesla has to choose in a split second: hit 3 elderly women or a baby to avoid killing me. Who decides that choice: me, Tesla, or the government? And who pays when it goes wrong? One clear sentence each.

🇧🇷 Brazil re-elected Lula yesterday by 4.4 million votes. Today investors ran: stocks down ~14%, trading halted at the open, the currency down ~10%, and borrowing costs spiked overnight. And the loser, Flávio Bolsonaro, still refuses to concede. Why it matters: US midterms are in 8 days, and markets now judge an election within hours. If your 401(k) dropped 14% the morning after an election, would you still accept the result?
Brazil's 10Y Government Bond Yield is now pushing 16%! That's a +300 basis point gain in a single day. That would be like US mortgage rates going from 7% to 10% in a single day.

My AI knows me better than most of my coworkers. Grok Bot fact-checks me before I make a call, tells me when my idea is weak, and remembers every correction I give it. But only because I told it to. One prompt telling it to stay neutral and criticize me. Without it, would it have just agreed with my mistakes? How many people are getting yes-men instead of advisors?

SpaceX just borrowed $40 billion to buy AI chips. Meanwhile, a top Wall Street economist says AI has made zero extra money for most companies outside Big Tech. Billions going in. Almost nothing coming out, yet. Smartest bet of the decade, or the next bubble?

$SPCX - SPACEX SIGNS $40 BILLION GPU FINANCING DEAL WITH APOLLO SpaceX has entered into a binding commitment for a master finance lease with Apollo Global Management ($APO ), according to an SEC filing. Apollo will purchase GPU pods and related equipment and lease them to SpaceX, with aggregate scheduled principal payments expected to total $40 billion. The agreement is expected to close before year-end 2026. The key takeaway: SpaceX is securing large-scale GPU infrastructure through lease financing, highlighting the enormous capital requirements of AI expansion.

Plot twist: the lender is Apollo. The same firm whose economist says AI isn't paying off. They're betting $40B on it anyway.

Brazil votes today. Fact-checkers counted 1,423 AI-made election posts in this campaign. 716 involved deepfakes. 54% had no AI label. One word: will a deepfake swing a major election before 2030? Yes or no?
