Legit looks like LaMelo just forgot that he had to dribble and the ref standing right there just didn't even consider calling it. We gotta get a handle on traveling.

The amount of non ball knowers crying about the travel. It’s a fucking carry. Govern the carry rule properly, NBA.

I honestly wasn’t sure if it could be officially defined as a carry if he never actually dribbles the ball again lol.

Well you see the first 3 steps are his gather step because he’s still palming the ball in 1 hand. Then he gets 3 more steps once his other hand touches the ball because he’s getting into his shooting motion.

We are at the point where dribbling will be called a violation. Really pathetic.

this is example A of what sucks about the modern NBA

That ref needs to have his pay docked today for missing that call.

The infinite gather dribble.

Nowhere near a travel. Investigate & tweet SGA’s bullshit from opening night. The only reason you don’t, is because SGA has like 1/5 the followers as Lamelo. You’re clout chasing vs fact finding. Lamelo is better than SGA but you can’t tweet that until Silver/Sponsers mandate it

This is, of course, a travel. But it’s the byproduct of the rediculous escalation of the gather step. Refs are so used to not calling travels on this that really really really look like (and should be) travels, that when stuff like this happens it gets a pass.

The NBA has basically become the WWE.

The script is so bad, refs dont even care anymore. NFL following suit.

Not gonna happen. The league/Silver are very aware and happy to continue allowing it. Have done nothing about it, and won't. They've leaned all the way in to the soccer-level flopping, BLATANT TRAVELING, and various other foolishness. Futile exercise to expect otherwise. 🤣

This Giannis transition bucket 😯 Half-court to the rim in a flash 😳

I remember when Russ did that!

I am at the game and told the ref to look at it at halftime. He denied missing it and was as a matter of fact that it was not a travel.

The carry/gather is the issue... dude had his hand under the ball for most of the steps. If you start from when he put both hands on the ball then it's fine. But it's obviously not!

Frodo walked less. WTF are the refs doing?

Broadcast didn't realize it in real time either yet had the audacity to criticize the ref lol

Legal (or not), know that most referees in past eras would have called it a travel based on the optics.

I also say travel based on when his hand is holding/under the ball, but I suppose the argument is that the jump-step is his gather and then his sidestep move is 2 steps.

Sam…it’s out of control with SGA multiple times per game traveling at levels that would be preposterous in the NBL

Just remove driving from the game altogether, remove the arguments from Twitter

NBA has always been pretty lax as entertainment comes before rules, but it’s become super ridiculous.
229
Even James Harden is saying that is a travel!

That's like four steps, what in the absolute fuck

And/or palming. Closely related problems.

And flopping

Pathetic. should be red hot on it given it's legit the 2nd night of a new season. Blight on the league.

At this point of the season I’m only paying attention for the nightly travel no-call that will be the funniest thing I see all day.
222
Tell the refs Sam. I believe in you guys

MF tryna be an explorer

@OfficialNBARefs the fuck are y’all doing???
123
refs let that slide and then call the most obvious carry of the night. the inconsistency is the actual problem

They didn’t call travel there? What a scam!
