An old pic of me but still relevant. This is life with an intestine that is chronically obstructed. It is painful, nauseating, and keeps me from living the life I dream of living. A surgeon and a doctor has recently given me hope and hope is a wonderful medicine.
15 years ago I had my colon removed in emergency surgery. It was a most challenging day that would change the course of my life and the appearance and function of my body forever. 2 more emergency surgeries were to follow. The spirit of resilience resides within me. I am here!
Anyone know of scholarships for adults going back to school, adults with disabilities or chronic illness or anything else that might apply to me? I’m hoping to go back to school this fall but can’t without financial help. Thanks!
Once again me not sleeping on my hospital bed because I hate the ones with mattresses that inflate and deflate all over the place. The worst. So uncomfortable and there is no option to make it stop. I’ll take this reclining chair next to Dans and just look at my bed. lol

Patient with intestinal failure. 45kg on admission. Salvaged with parenteral nutrition (PN). Discharged with home PN. Worked out in gym & went back to cycling.
Now 80kg, athletic and built like a brick outhouse.
And this is why clinical nutrition is so rewarding

Ha! @ibddoctor says best ventilation is in the bathroom but we can’t hold a conference in the bathroom. I argue that’s the best place for this conference! #p2pep22
To follow my last tweet, @ibddoctor already had a tweet about it. Should have known a Twitter master like him would. #IBD #p2pep22

This fancy air filter at #p2pep22 is like an N95 for the room. Forgot what it’s called but I’m sure @ibddoctor can comment and let us know. #IBD
To follow last tweet, some long COVID info #p2pep22
14 years without a large intestine. Time somehow seems to have flown by and gone so slow. How is that possible?
1/ Packing for a week away when you have major medical issues is nuts. This is one of 3 bags. Other has my TPN and supplies, and I am also on IV antibiotics recovering from a blood infection. So many things to think about to bring. If you need tips on managing med stuff or travel
