Lord Forst is absolutely correct. Any articulation of the fact biological sex exists and “gender identity” is a faith concept would become a risky thing to say if the Conversion Practices bill becomes law.

It feels like the West has been at war with reality for a few decades now.
So many social problems are downstream of masses of people pretending that reality isn't real.
Comforting lies take precedence over uncomfortable realities. People want to feel good, not do good.

These safeguards are nowhere near as robust as presented here:
1. The acts don't need to cause physical or psychological harm - they can also simply cause serious alarm or distress that has a substantial adverse effect on usual day-to-day activities - much more subjective.
“A society which values freedom must protect everyone’s right to live openly and safely as themselves.”

This is essential watching.
The Conversion Practices Bill will see parents, teachers and religious leaders locked up for 5 years if they dare to have conversations with gender confused children or preach their faith’s teachings.
This is happening in Britain. We must not let this bill pass.

This essay raises serious questions about the ethical responsibilities of a psychotherapist to inform clients about the harms of gender medicine. I mostly agree with Stella.
As I thought over her essay, I realized that I DO make sure my clients are well-informed on the pros and cons of hormonal treatments and vaginoplasty (I work only with males). I might also tell them, in general terms, about the experience of detransitioners I've worked with. But I do it AS WE GO ALONG, and not at the outset.
I find that most trans-identified adolescents have already been bombarded with "studies" given to them by their parents -- studies demonstrating the harms of gender medicine. If I give the same warnings at the beginning of treatment, I might just be viewed as on "their side" and not to be trusted.
As a stranger, I have no unearned authority with a new client. So I maintain my neutrality, build a relationship with that person over time, and introduce the relevant science once I feel my client trusts me enough to take it in. Intuitively knowing how to build trust and gauge openness should be part of a psychotherapist's skill set.
I think it's possible to maintain a neutral open-minded stance that's also ethical. Stella's right -- there are more options than talking someone "into" or "out of" an identity. The goal is to listen to our clients "without memory and desire," make sure (at the relevant time) that they understand the risks involved in medicalizing, and then let them think and decide for themselves.

Tired of the ‘Britain was unbelievably racist, nasty’ narratives? This could be just the tonic - not ignoring less admirable parts, but recognising they were parts - not the whole story: amzn.eu/d/05Y7qfLq

People need to wake up to the fact that the ideologues who support this self-ID gender insanity won’t change their minds. Theirs is a cult-like mindset, a foundational belief, almost religious in its intensity. You’d probably have more success persuading a practising Christian, Muslim or Jew to abandon their faith than convincing these zealots to reconsider the consequences of what they’re doing.
The only solution is to vote them out of power and root them out of civic institutions, the NHS and the media.
We need people in positions of authority who are rational, sensible and capable of exercising common sense. Of course compassion and kindness matter. But not an ideological interpretation of those virtues that ignores the unintended consequences and regressive, harmful repercussions of bad legislation.
Sensible people need to stop hiding, start speaking out and challenge these ideas wherever they take hold.
Otherwise, this madness will never end.
"There should be a clear distinction between treatment and accountability." Well said Emma.
Seems the fact that Calocane can be considered for release in January came as a shock to many.
He can.
It happens.
Appalling as it is.

So I’ve written this to explain just how the ´hospital’ system works in this country.

Not scaremongering - just fact.
Please read and share if you can.
This is what we are fighting against…

Another study showing that peers, not professors, shift opinion leftward during university.
Left-leaning professors cater to left-leaning students.
Data shows very few conservative profs, so student priors are reinforced, not challenged.

Anxious kids get more reassurance, more check-ins, and more adult presence.
What they rarely get is practice at the exact thing that would shrink the anxiety: doing the thing without the parent nearby.
Independence is the exposure. The parent’s nervous system is usually the obstacle.

Do you think it is fair that parents, therapists and religious leaders could spend up to five years behind bars for having well-intentioned conversations with gender-confused children or sharing their faith’s teachings?
We at the Free Speech Union certainly do not. Parents, above all, should be able to have these important conversations with their children.
But the Government clearly disagrees. The draft bill to ban conversion therapy, introduced by the Starmer Government, could see parents who attempt to dissuade their gender-confused children from embarking on dangerous, life-changing and irreversible medical pathways locked up for five years.
Unlike previous iterations of conversion therapy ban bills, this bill does not include the same carve-outs for parents and religious leaders. That was a political choice.
This bill is a blatant assault on religious freedom and free speech. The Free Speech Union opposes it.
