This is just the beginning. They were just testing the waters to see how we would react. In the next election, they’ll get more votes, so don’t be surprised if they win a ward.

#sapsEC [FOREIGN NATIONAL NABBED FOR DRUG DEALING]
Police have arrested a 34-year-old Nigerian national and seized drugs with an estimated street value of R12 400-00 during a successful, intelligence-driven operation today. The vehicle in which the suspect was traveling in was also seized.
The breakthrough occurred on Saturday afternoon when members from the Makhanda Crime Prevention Unit, in collaboration with Paterson SAPS Visible Policing (Vispol), executed an intelligence-driven #OperationShanela deployment. The team intercepted a white VW Up in the vicinity of the Nanaga farm stall, which was reportedly being used to transport illicit substances from Gqeberha to Paterson.
A thorough search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery and confiscation of the following contraband:
* 70 mandrax tablets
* 9 bankies of tik (5g each)
* 2 bankies of kat (3.5g each)
The 34-year-old suspect was arrested on the spot and faces a charge related to dealing in drugs. In addition to the narcotics, police seized the VW Up as it was used in the commission of a crime.
The Sarah Baartman District Commissioner, Major General Thandiswa Kupiso lauded the operational team for their swift and decisive actions, emphasizing that this seizure strikes a direct blow against local drug distribution networks.
"Operation Shanela is our ongoing, high-visibility intervention strategy by the South African Police Service aimed at combating crime, dismantling drug syndicates, and tightening law enforcement across our communities," the District Commissioner stated. "We remain resolute in tracking down those who attempt to traffic illicit substances through our corridors, and we will continue to squeeze the space for criminals to operate." Major General Kupiso concluded. #DrugsOffTheStreets ML
