After two years gathering evidence, the Alliance is calling for proper scrutiny of animal testing licences, ASRU, and a system that continues to use dogs in research. 𝗜𝗚 𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗧 | 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 “Today we joined @SaveTheDogsUk at their protest outside the ASRU (Animals in Science Regulation Unit) here in Croydon. We stood in solidarity with campaigners calling for an end to the inhumane treatment of dogs at the MBR Acres facility. These are gentle, loyal animals, and they deserve so much better than life in a lab. 🐾 The ASRU is meant to protect animal welfare, and it's right on our doorstep. On Tuesday, we stood alongside the 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘁𝘆-𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 at Parliament to call for greater transparency, accountability and change in the use of animals in scientific research. A huge thank you to 𝗚𝗮𝗯𝗯𝘆 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻 for joining us and delivering such a powerful speech, helping bring attention to the animals whose lives are affected by these practices - including the beagles bred for laboratory testing at MBR Acres. We’re calling for a public inquiry and a future where science no longer depends on animals suffering. Every signature helps show decision-makers that the public wants change. It’s time to End Testing on Dogs, Shut Down MBR and have a public Inquiry into this disgusting industry which is not only failing 2.5 million animals per year but is also stalling medical progress. As Dominic said, we need our Government to be PROPERLY FUNDING non animal methods. There is an opportunity to actually be a world leader. America is ahead of us already, they are ending government funding on Dogs & Cats which will wipe out about 50% of the need, Amazing! And they are brining in the COMPACT ACT which is gathering large support currently. Here in UK….nothing. Animal testing has a 1% to 10% success rate. A new method like organ on chip has an 85% success rate. What are we waiting for @andyburnham ??? All Labours talk of phasing out is fooling nobody. Their message deserves to be heard: as science advances, policy must move forward. Outdated practices must never be protected from scrutiny by political reluctance, regulatory rigidity or commercial interests. The Government’s commitment to the 3Rs - Replacement, Reduction and Refinement—must mean more than words. Where is the urgency? Where is the accountability? They are living beings who can experience pain and distress, just like we can. Yet dogs are still subjected to experiments that can cause them suffering. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Human-relevant alternatives, including advanced cell-based methods and organs-on-chips, offer new ways to study disease and test treatments without relying on animals.
