I thought this AI thing was supposed to free up our time. I only see more work.
I understand the sentiment here around the capabilities of models compounding and making whole classes of problems irrelevant.
But in the same vein, I’m worried this mentality is going to kill innovation in countless ways.

By the time you get it working well, the models will be good enough to work around it (or not need it entirely)
So… when can I use this in Postgres?
I built bbtree, the foundation of databases and filesystems, and the fastest concurrent btree.

We can decompile all of Adobe’s products with agents. We can completely jailbreak the PS5 in days. But… rendering LaTeX in markdown is too hard for agents.
Guess software isn’t solved.
A lot of doomerisms on the timeline today about how none of us are going to have jobs in a few years.
I won’t believe this narrative until more of the software I have to use every day doesn’t suck for one reason or another.
A lot of good takes here. But some things I disagree with. One in particular is that people have to have side projects.
Many of the absolute wizards I know and some I work with don’t do side projects.
🗞️ if your team is too busy doing their 'normal job' to experiment with AI, you're preparing them to be replaced

In this post, I guess this's the last time I'll say it. AI use is no longer optional if you wish to be employed. What follows is advice for current employees and hiring managers on how to hire in 2026 to source AI-first candidates.
In the world of agents, slow software is a choice. Point an agent any part of your codebase with as simple as prompt as…
“Hunt down any performance gains, benchmark the before / after, only propose changes with meaningful percentage gains”
It’s that easy

I worry about this constantly. I think to myself “am I falling in to this trap?”
I’d be lying if I said 100% of my PRs all get the same attention as they used to. But looking back on the last few weeks, I’ve spent so much iterating on seemingly trivial / tiny details of a large migration I’m working on.
Attention to detail and care looks different than it used to.
Very excited to see this in action. Feels too good to be true.
After co-inventing ChatGPT, I kept asking myself: why have superhuman chat models not led to AGI?
I’ve spent the last 2 years in stealth building a new way to train models (RLCD), and a new type of frontier AI model that we are releasing today: Jev
• 20-200x faster
• 40-400x cheaper (w/ output tokens free)
• Frontier composable intelligence optimized for decisions
AFAICT the shortest path to AI-based economic revolution
Karri has to two operating modes from what I’ve seen. Obsessed with Linear and what we’re doing here, and a huge WoW nerd.
This is also seen in our internal slack channels.

(Interface) design and (front end) engineering. Maybe.
But design is much bigger than interface design, and engineering is much more than front end.
Designing a brand and patching security vulnerabilities in complex distributed systems won’t be done by the same person.
I think working for these founders is going to ruin any / all future founders for me.

The linear founders are the most high integrity leaders I’ve ever met in tech. They will absolutely do right by their employees. and their tolerance for bullshit is extremely low
The Bull Case for Linear Being a $100BN Company:
"Linear is the clear winner.
They have built an agentic product first that allows us to build 100x more software, and that means 100x more features than ever before.
Humans cannot keep up with it, and humans still have to work with agents. If every human on your team's gonna build 500 features and 1,000 issues and you have 10 people on your team, you need a process and a system of record for managing all these issues with your agents.
We need a new system of record for it.
The team at Linear has figured it out. We have seen an explosion, 50x more agent usage than 90 days ago.
This will seem cheap when Replit's at $15BN, Lovable's at $100BN, because Linear will be the one powering them all". @jasonlk
Love to hear your thoughts, what is your bull case for Linear @karrisaarinen @stephzhan @adambain @dickc @soleio @zoink @Mkclements
This take is so tired. I literally could care less what kind of "game" these models are able to one shot. It's completely irrelevant.
This "game" looks boring as hell, and like any other creative industry since the dawn of time, those that are passionate about their craft and put in insane amounts of time will rise to the top.
Models / LLMs are just TOOLS, and they will never replace humans in creative fields.
