Starmer’s government prepares its next assault on British democracy, transferring control over swathes of UK government functions to a foreign power.
Scientists for Britain was created 10 years ago. 🎉
Our members played a crucial role arguing for UK democratic self-governance and countering the false science-based narratives of the EU.

We knew it already but now healthcare professionals around the world confirm that the EU has a painfully slow and bureaucratic medical approval system which is bad for patients.
It’s always been the case but vividly illustrated during Covid.

Dutch ‘chose’ not to invest?
They really didn’t have a choice as they were legally obliged to reject unilateral moves in favour of EU commonality by the (then) recent EU Council agreements on the EU Vaccine Strategy. @journobill @benrileysmith
Brexit Britain is a world leader on Covid vaccinations.
On Sunday, we passed 50 doses per 100 people.

Reminder that the country’s main pro-EU campaign is still calling for the UK to join the failing EU Vaccine Strategy.
Absolutely absurd and it reveals the ideological fanaticism of the group and the MPs and academics who back it.
EU fanatics said the EU has “paid less for its vaccines per person than the UK”.
This is true - considering that the EU secured LESS THAN HALF the number of vaccines per person than the UK.
This is the thing, those who learn about the EU find out that they don’t like it – even Guardian columnists.
The pro-EU mindset requires people to turn a blind eye to its aims and faults.
Disgraceful behaviour by the EU towards AstraZeneca.
Even many Europeans will be shocked by the lumbering decisions of EU technocrats.
Yet the European Medicines Agency STILL refuses to approve the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine!
‘Earliest possible’ date 29 Jan - if AZ plays ball!
How bad is the EU pseudo-state at organising anything and holding back countries which can do better for themselves and others?
Strange that the Guardian would carry this headline when they and the BBC have been the biggest advocates for an EU system which allowed it to happen.
The flawed deal also means the UK can’t even change it.
EU vaccine strategy is now in tatters after Germany breaks ranks:

Member states are angry about one EU fiasco after another - late approvals, missed orders, low doses. Typical inept EU.
Last week, the EU chief was ordering states not to break ranks. 👇
New Covid variant has been in Spain, Belgium, Netherlands and Denmark since October, maybe before.
They just don’t test as often as the UK does.
Why has France not reported it?
What is the EU doing?
They are supposed to be leading an ‘EU common Covid strategy’.
Media not covering this:
The EU agency for diseases (ECDC) admitted yesterday that the new virus strain is ALREADY in Belgium, Denmark and Netherlands, but says that EU countries simply 'sequence much smaller proportions of virus isolates than the UK'.

Peston and Guido said the exact opposite about the UK, EU and the Moderna vaccine on 16 Nov.
In fact, Guido was right, UKgov did a deal on that day for millions of doses and the EU’s actual purchase came much later.
More than 100 backbench MPs have been briefed by the @CentreBrexit, an influential cross-party think tank, on this ‘Brexit scorecard’ to determine whether the Brexit deal will fulfil their 2019 manifesto commitments and the Leave referendum promise to "take back control".
