tbh for all the critism they deservedly get the Gene Luen Yangs comics were the first to allow Aang to be upset about how his culture is treated and directly call out cultural appropriation and I do appreciate that

Love the Gaang, but GOD they were not perfect in the slightest. There are several occasions in ATLA that I can name off the top of my head where they dismissed Aang’s feelings regarding his culture going extinct in favor of other cultures.

yeah this has allegedly happened before, and i suspect with some other things but there is less proof but in all instances the fans involved are happy so nothing has ever been done. im disappointed to see this might still be happening
