Happy #NunavutDay! In October, senators travelled to Nunavut to study Arctic security — this is just one of the ways senators represent regions in Parliament. Find out what they learned by reading their report: ow.ly/o1tx50P6AL0 #SenCA #SECD

"It's really disconcerting when we don't know the financial situation of the airline, and there was no voice for Nunavut in these negotiations. The unfair thing about this is Nunavut is the biggest customer for Canadian North." - @SenDPatterson More: cbc.ca/news/canada/north/can…

What happens if a government doesn’t bring an act of Parliament into force, either in whole or in part? CSG @SenDPatterson reminds us of the original intent of the Statutes Repeal Act & invites his Senate colleagues to ensure the will of Parliament is respected #SenCA #cdnpoli

@SenMarcGold perhaps you would like to revise your statement made in the Senate floor, incorrectly, that NAWL is the only women's group opposed to #c28. And more will join.
Replying to @KerriFroc
BTW, it's not just @NAWL_ANFD who wants you to slow down and do this properly. @LukesPlace1 and @endvawnetwork are also joining us in expressing concern.

The way it's written #c28 purports to limit the defence of extreme intoxication to crimes of violence, but makes the burden on the Crown nearly impossible. Giving lip service to protecting women but not actually doing it is adding insult to injury. Almost literally.

@NAWL_ANFD was a critical stakeholder providing expert feminist criminal/constitutional law opinions after Daviault. Why would you not want that expertise to inform your bill??

@DavidLametti, I asked DOJ at the briefing last week why @NAWL_ANFD was consulted only days before the extreme intoxication bill was introduced. Basically, the answer was ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. #c28 needs work. Fix it before it's passed, so men are accountable for intoxicated violence.
