Ukrainian sniper Oleh Pidsutkevych spent nearly three years in russian captivity. For the first time, he has spoken openly about the horrors he endured.
When he thought he was about to be executed, he closed his eyes, said goodbye to his family in his mind, and begged them to shoot him in the head.
Captured on June 25, 2022, after russian forces surrounded his position, Oleh watched two of his comrades being executed on the spot.
He was taken to a detention center in occupied Luhansk.
28 men in one cell. Two half-broken plastic spoons. Bread filled with sand and maggots, picked clean before they could eat it.
No clothes until late October. Until then, they wrapped themselves in bedsheets.
Torture was routine. Guards randomly selected 20 prisoners at a time and took them away.
Oleh had electrical wires connected to his ears. Using a field telephone, his torturers cranked the handle until he felt his head might tear apart.
“They did whatever they wanted to us. We weren’t human beings there. We weren’t even animals. We were just creatures without rights.”
He didn't believe he was finally free until he stepped off the plane in Belarus. Some men sang. Others screamed with joy. Oleh sat down and silently lit a cigarette.
Back home, he took down his own portrait from Ukraine’s Alley of Hope, where it had hung for 33 months. He will keep it for the rest of his life.
He survived nearly three years of russian captivity. Now he faces another battle: learning how to live in freedom.

Me: "I build 3 Düsselflows. Worth 3x350€."

Me: "Its basically a DIY Ecoflow with some advantages: You can
- build it your own with little knowledge
- upgrade it
- repair it under field conditions
- throw it around and it still works (dont do that!)
- save a lot of money"
Absolutely noone: "So I can buy all components myself and just put them together?"
Me: "Yes you can. All parts are from Amazon, Ebay or Deutsche Post. In case something is not working later you can just replace that part. If you are unsure: Every Car Mechanic can maintain it if needed."
Absolutely noone: "What can it power? A 1000W heater?"
Me: "Well, thats not the purpose of this energy station. Its there for emergencies. When you want to power neccessary things like a fridge, or a heating mattress. These devices usually need around 60 to 100W. The Duesselflow is able to energise 1000W devices. But personaly I see no sense in doing so. Keep it small I would say."
Absolutely noone: "How much energy is stored in the Dusselflow?"
Me: "Usually one station comes with theoretical 1.280Wh. If you connect a 100W device (like a TV) to it, you can watch 12,8h your favorite movie on Netflix.. Its 1.280Wh : 100W = x hours. Easy math."
Absolutely noone: "What about charging it?"
Me: "Well, THAT point goes to the Ecoflow. The Düsselflow has a 20A charger. That means if you fully empty the station you will need 4 to 5 hours to fully charge it. But: Thats not the purpose of the Duesselflow. Its build to be a plug-in-and-forget buffer. Once you have plugged in your gas heating control (!) you will forget the Dusselflow. Because during a blackout it will automatically jump in. When the power comes back the station loades again. You dont need to press buttons or plug something in.
