My daughter raced the 🇯🇵 Junior Road Championships yesterday in pouring rain, resulting in numerous riders hitting the deck. Luckily she wasn’t one of them & finished 9th on a hilly course that doesn’t suit her. Most importantly, she thoroughly ENJOYED the day, which tells me my emphasis on ensuring she equates the bike with fun is paying off. #prouddad #sportisfun #cyclingislife

I’ve been away at a couple of big international tournaments over the past few weeks helping players with their mindset, and it still amazes me how many pros neglect this side of their game. The amount of negative self-talk, even when joking, and the number of players who struggle to control their emotions still staggers me. Some of it comes down to not being taught the tools to manage these things, but at this level, you have to take responsibility for yourself. Too many players tie their identity to their win-loss record. They lose perspective and let a bad result dictate how they feel about themselves. For me, a big part of coaching is helping players understand that their results don’t define them. What matters is how they approach today, how they respond to challenges and what they do with what’s in front of them. You can’t change yesterday or control tomorrow. You can only control what you do today. Here’s my latest book of you need help or know someone who does mybook.to/master-flow

Australia’s most decorated soldier, VC recipient Ben Roberts-Smith, was driven to the brink of suicide by a relentless witch hunt. Now Anthony Albanese’s government is trying to lock him up for life. He hit absolute rock bottom after years of allegations. “There were many times I thought it might be a better option for my family if I just took my own life,” he said. What stopped him was his kids, and the realisation that suicide would let his accusers claim victory and brand him guilty forever. For four years he stayed silent during the defamation case, trusting the system. He was wrong. Nine slaughtered his reputation while he said nothing. Now he’s speaking out because the scales are being tipped against him. “The public has a right to know how the scales of justice are being tipped in favour of the government.” Albanese’s prosecutors have charged him with five war crimes murder counts over 2009 - 2012 engagements. Roberts-Smith insists no civilians were killed, every one involved Taliban fighters. Judges and bureaucrats are second guessing split second battlefield decisions from lounge chairs. Australia’s highest decorated living soldier faces the prospect of dying in prison while Albanese’s government presses ahead. He trusted the process once. He’s not doing it again. The public deserves to see every step. I stand with Ben Roberts Smith.

My daughter was bullied at school for being half Japanese / half Australian. She fought back verbally. The teacher said they were both in the wrong. I patiently explained to the teacher that the person who starts the conflict is ALWAYS in the wrong. The person who fights back has the right to self defense. We shouldn't teach kids that standing up to someone who attacks them makes them equally responsible for the situation. It doesn’t.
Parents of bullied children have slammed a “soft” strategy used in Victorian schools as setting aggressors up for a life of crime while traumatising their victims, with bullies often told to simply “say sorry” after violent incidents. > bit.ly/4zbrmHk
