25+ years in high performance have taught me a few things.
I've coached Grand Slam champions, professional athletes, and elite performers across multiple sports.
I've worked inside international governing bodies, led teams, coached athletes, and spent 8 years on the Dunlop/Adidas International Advisory Board.
I've also made a ton of mistakes along the way.
Here's what I believe:
Personal responsibility is non-negotiable.
Talent isn't enough.
Motivation isn't reliable.
Mental toughness isn't something you simply have.
And the zone isn't something you chase.
I'll be talking about athletes, coaching, leadership, psychology, and high performance.

My daughter raced the 🇯🇵 Junior Road Championships yesterday in pouring rain, resulting in numerous riders hitting the deck.
Luckily she wasn’t one of them & finished 9th on a hilly course that doesn’t suit her.
Most importantly, she thoroughly ENJOYED the day, which tells me my emphasis on ensuring she equates the bike with fun is paying off.

«Ce que le troupeau déteste le plus, c'est celui qui pense différemment. En réalité, il ne déteste pas son opinion, mais l'audace de cet individu qui a le courage de penser par lui-même pour être différent, et c'est précisément ce que le troupeau ignore.»

1st ride (outside) in two weeks after being away at comps.

The biggest issue in the @aflwomens & to some extent the @AFL is the lack of willingness or foresight to recruit experts from other sporting domains.
Essendon will not be commissioning an external review of its AFLW program, but instead broadening the scope of its annual internal review.
Injuries, lack of development and an unclear game plan/brand of footy - where did it all go wrong?

The amount of low-IQ morons who support pieces of trash like BRS is exactly why the world is so immoral and fucked.
Support the police/military? Really?
The person giving the order may set the wheels in motion, but the person who carries it out bears the greatest moral responsibility. They are the ones who make the killing of innocent children a reality.
You don't get to hide behind the chain of command.
You're a human being with a conscience, not a fucking robot.

Very disappointed in @TamauPogi not setting the right example for young riders who look up to him like my 15yo daughter.

I’ve been away at a couple of big international tournaments over the past few weeks helping players with their mindset, and it still amazes me how many pros neglect this side of their game.
The amount of negative self-talk, even when joking, and the number of players who struggle to control their emotions still staggers me.
Some of it comes down to not being taught the tools to manage these things, but at this level, you have to take responsibility for yourself.
Too many players tie their identity to their win-loss record. They lose perspective and let a bad result dictate how they feel about themselves.
For me, a big part of coaching is helping players understand that their results don’t define them. What matters is how they approach today, how they respond to challenges and what they do with what’s in front of them.
You can’t change yesterday or control tomorrow. You can only control what you do today.
