New word of the day “sabotage.” Sometimes not dealing with the difficult political issues at hand makes bad outcomes look like sabotage:

Looks like Obama’s rally really got to him.
You can tell he’s BIGLY jealous of the man.

This supercut is likely to make Trump VERY upset. The difference between Trump and Obama is on full display, and the contrast is absolutely devastating. Watch until the end...

Sunday Times reports that Tshwane municipality ignored repeated warnings about the Bronkohorspruit treatment plant while continuing to supply residents with contaminated water. Mayor Moya is said to have received at least 3 reports on water quality months leading up to the crisis
Sharon Peetz retweeted
“As Moya moved to suspend the plant manager this week, blaming him for failing to alter the metro to the lack of chlorine, it emerged that the department of water and sanitation had issued a letter of noncompliance to the municipality over the Bronkhorspruit plant in February…”

An executive mayorship is actually a really tough desk job… I hope that after 4 November we will see no more politicians in utility overalls for photo shoots pointing at failed infrastructure with a concerned or perplexed or shocked look on their faces. ✊

One year ago, I wrote this article warning that Bronkhorstspruit residents were being forced to drink muddy, potentially unsafe water while still being billed for it. I even reached out to the sitting Mayor of Tshwane @nasiphim to raise the urgency of the crisis. If this water crisis is not dealt with, it will cost innocent lives.

TSHWANE FAILED TO WARN RESIDENTS ABOUT UNSAFE WATER
The Department of Water and Sanitation says the City of Tshwane failed to warn residents that water supplied by the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Works was unsafe.
An investigation found the plant went without chlorination from 24 September to 14 October because of difficulties with a chlorine supplier.
Between 7 and 18 October, 408 cases of gastrointestinal illness were reported, with most patients under the age of four. Tests found extremely high levels of E. coli and total coliforms in parts of the system.
Residents in affected areas have been told not to use tap water for drinking, cooking, bathing, brushing teeth, washing food or clothes until further notice.
If authorities knew the water was unsafe, when should residents have been warned?

As your friend and sister, I am deeply saddened by your comment below. It really pierced my heart that I can love and care for someone who can be this callous about a very painful chapter in our history.
Samora Machel’s contribution is a matter of historical record. Under his leadership, Mozambique sheltered South African exiles and supported the ANC’s liberation struggle, enduring apartheid military raids and destabilisation. Many died from the cross border incursions of the apartheid army into Mozambique. But many were saved by the protection Machel offered. Apartheid South Africa aligned with RENAMO, the armed militias fighting Machel's government.
Machel worked closely with Oliver Tambo and publicly defended the liberation movement. After South African forces attacked ANC safe houses in Matola in January 1981, he continued to affirm solidarity with the oppressed people of South Africa. 17 people were killed.
There is also a global, post and anti colonial element to Machel's place in history. Machel led FRELIMO’s struggle against Portuguese colonial rule and became Mozambique’s first president at independence in 1975. He regarded Mozambique’s freedom as inseparable from the liberation of its neighbours.
The Nkomati Accord was a tragic and painful moment that even Tambo understood. Machel was put in a corner by the well resourced apartheid regime- in exchange for ending support for RENAMO's military operations, apartheid SA demanded Machel restricts ANC presence in Mozambique. Basically, he had to choose between supporting the ANC or continuing the civil war in his country - which killed hundreds of thousands, caused hunger and disease. The Nkomati Accord was blackmail.
Machel and Mozambique paid a heavy price. We honour him. And your post, my friend and brother, is shameful and ignorant.

More than 400 cases of gastrointestinal illnesses have been reported in the east of Pretoria, mostly affecting young children. Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya says officials at the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Works failed to report the chlorine problem to the City, and they failed to alert residents that the water had not been chlorinated.
