**Sports betting has never been more accessible. Yet the vast majority of recreational bettors continue losing money.**
And it's not always because they're picking the wrong teams.
Poor habits, unrealistic expectations, and a lack of understanding can destroy a bankroll just as quickly as bad predictions.
Here are 10 mistakes I see bettors making, why they matter, and what you should be doing differently.
🧵

In November, I will begin a 30 days series, where I post 1 video a day going into detail on a feature on our site.
I realize we're small in following, and many people may not fully understand what it is we do, why it's done, etc. Hopefully through this series, we change that!

My sports equinox parlay
Not a huge 4 leg guy, but I wanted to get in on the fun. Why not? We only get this wonderful moment rarely.

Everyday is the hardest day in history to rig and manipulate markets.
It’s insane to me how many people believe this $150B industry cares about their single bets outcome.
**10/10 — Not Tracking Your Results**
Ask the average recreational bettor how much money they've won or lost over the last six months.
You'll probably get something like:
"I'm pretty sure I'm up."
But are you?
People remember their biggest wins. They remember that $800 parlay they hit last month.
They tend to forget the $20 and $30 losses scattered throughout the weeks leading up to it.
If you're serious about improving as a bettor, you need to track your wagers.
Not just wins and losses.
Track your stake, odds, profit or loss, bet type, and ideally the closing line.
Look at your ROI. Evaluate which markets you're performing well in and where you're struggling.
Just remember that small samples can be misleading. Tracking gives you evidence to work with, not instant proof that you have an edge.
You cannot objectively evaluate your betting strategy if you don't even know how it's performing.
**Final Thoughts**
Here's what I hope people take away from this thread.
Becoming a better sports bettor isn't necessarily about watching more games, memorizing more statistics, or finding somebody who claims to have a winning system.
It's about understanding probability, recognizing value, managing risk, and being disciplined enough to make good decisions consistently.
You can do everything right and still lose a wager.
You can make a terrible bet and still cash the ticket.
The outcome of one bet doesn't determine whether the decision was good.
The quality of your decisions over time is what matters.
And even then, profitability is never guaranteed.
**Focus less on winning your next bet and more on becoming a better bettor.**
