Rick Tocchet has been an NHL head coach for 10 seasons (this is his 11th) and he's made the playoffs a total of THREE TIMES. THREE. OUT OF TEN.
His Vancouver Canucks in 2023-2024 had several players have career years and the team shot at a stupidly unsustainable rate. When the going got tough he allowed the Canucks locker room to turn into a toxic, cancerous mess and then ran away and QUIT so he didn't have to deal with the fallout.
The 2019-20 Coyotes only made the playoffs because it was the stupid play-in bubble hockey and they had the 4th best goaltending in the league by SV% at 5v5.
Last year's Flyers had just 33 regulation or overtime wins. They won TEN GAMES IN THE SHOOTOUT. Rick Tocchet is the biggest fraud in the NHL and he should be banned from the sport. The product his teams create on the ice actively harms the viewing experience for fans. In the next CBA I hope the players ask for a Rick Tocchet clause where he's not allowed anywhere near an NHL bench.

Let's skip the discussion about correlation nerfing your odds deep into the -EV category on certain books (cough* FD)
But let's dive deeper into the fact that these SGPs are full of legs that are overtly -EV as well. You can compound your Expected Value by taking multiple EV legs, sure. But the vast majority are taking the -200, -300 types of builders cause they're "safer"
Yeah sure 7+ Keon receptions is amazing EV at +1300 Bally vs +680 FD but you never see that leg included. No, you see the 3+ rec instead at -186 Bally compared to -180 Fanduel instead
There is no such thing as a safe leg, -200 Bijan didn't hit, -420 Oregon didn't hit, -340 LSU didn't hit
Gathering 90% hit rate legs just to get a bigger payout is already a losing game to begin with. The price you're sacrificing is so often overlooked these days
