Is that it?
John Healey had a big job to do cleaning up Labourβs mess. This Budget fails to do it.
Britain is overspent, overborrowed and overtaxed. This Budget does not come close to meeting the moment.

Oh good. Keep the stabber on the streets, to make room in prison for Tommy Robinson, convicted of the grave crime of... paparazzi-ing the paparazzi.
A judge told a 14-year-old boy who stabbed a girl 10 times that prison was the βlast placeβ for a βbright ladβ like him, The Telegraph can reveal.

Again, this is bonkers. Why do Reform keep lying about this utterly irrelevant stuff.
NEW @Telegraph understands Nigel Farage did not display a valid date stamp on his prayer card and it was removed as per Chamber protocol.
I also understand Mr Farage did not attend prayers and did not approach Commons staff regarding a seat reservation.

Of course he is. Healey is a man of no principle. Billions of MoD cuts are due over the next three years.

Big row potentially brewing on defenceβ¦
Tories alleging that Healey - the man of principle who quit over DIP - might actually be *cutting* defence spending
In the next two financial years, the budget for the MOD will be Β£1bn a year less than Rachel Reeves planned when the DIP was published in June.
The total departmental spending can be calculated from the Budget Red Book pages 145-147. When compared to the DIP settlement, the Tories claim it shows that Labour are cutting Β£1bn a year from the MOD budget for the next two years.
Why? It appears that they are forecast to spend less than expected on pensions. Rather than the MOD being allowed to reuse this Resource Department Expenditure Limit, the Treasury has kept it
Cartlidge: βThis is a complete dereliction of duty from the Chancellorβ

The Conversion Practices Bill is one of the most dangerous, illiberal and invasive pieces of legislation ever to come before MPs.
It will criminalise well-intentioned conversations between parents and gender-confused children, and between religious leaders and those seeking guidance on their faithβs teachings about sex, gender and marriage.
Parents who try to dissuade their children β at any age β from embarking on dangerous, irreversible and life-changing medical pathways could face five years in prison.
Unlike similar bills introduced in the past, this Bill contains no carve-outs to protect these vital conversations.
It is not the role of the state or ministers to dictate what parents can or cannot say to their children around the dinner table.
In a letter to the pre-legislative scrutiny committee, the Equalities Minister even had the audacity to claim that the Bill respects parental responsibility. It does not.
The committee will hear evidence from witnesses for the first time tomorrow, and has now opened its call for evidence.
The Free Speech Union is calling on the Prime Minister to drop this Bill. It is an assault on free speech and religious freedom.

It's worth remembering that stealth taxes will still be at the heart of this Budget
They represent the biggest tax rise in history
Income tax thresholds have been frozen now since 2021 and are due to remain frozen until April 2031
The cumulative freezes of freezing thresholds and allowances is expected to raise ***Β£67billion*** by 2030/31
The higher rate - which was once the preserve of the rich - is now the norm for millions of people
By 2030/31 5.2million people will have been brought into paying income tax, there will be 4.8million more higher rate taxpayers and 600,000 more additional rate taxpayers
A ***quarter*** of taxpayers will be higher rate or additional rate taxpayers
We've reached the stage where this huge tax raid is almost priced in every year, but it is far more significant than any other tax-raising measure on the scorecard
Paul Johnson, a former head of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, said: "We are talking many, many billions of pounds of tax rises over the decade. People who would 20 years ago have never imagined they would be higher-rate taxpayers are now higher-rate taxpayers."
