American voters dealt President Trump a historic rebuke on a scale not seen since 1974, propelling Democrats into control of both houses of Congress with commanding wins in places they hadn’t carried in decades.

ROMEO + JULIET turns 30 today.
Baz Luhrmann sent Radiohead the film’s final 20 minutes and asked them to write an original end-credits song. The result was Exit Music (For a Film), which later appeared on their landmark album OK COMPUTER.

people are mentioning the obvious trauma of 9/11… i think we also gotta remember that a plane crashed landing at DCA literally LAST YEAR…
Seeing the president’s plane was meant as a treat for those at the White House Halloween event. But for some outside the Executive Mansion, it was more of a scary trick when they looked up yesterday evening to see the underside of a 747 flying low and slow over DC. The video below is the view from across the Potomac in Virginia.
The Washington Post reports that one big complaint from local officials is that they only got 15 minutes' notice about the flyover. The jet, of course, is known as Air Force One when the president is aboard. Flight tracking data showed the plane’s altitude was between 400 and 1000 feet. For reference, the Washington Monument is 555 feet 5 1/8 inches. There was a ground stop at nearby Reagan National Airport during the event. #WhiteHouse #flyover #aviation @ARLnowDOTcom @MidwestSafetyYT @HillaryHowardDC @NFTC_News @matthewyoung31 @MikeEmanuelFox @MacFarlaneNews @Acosta @dclinenews @tomsherwood

Very good companion piece to read after you've seen the movie.
His read on the Who's on First bit is, I think, 100% dead-on and singlehandedly answers most of the questions people have about why she wanted to do the project in the first place.
A ton of people have asked me for my thoughts about “You Can See Everything,” the new Elizabeth Holmes documentary. Here they are: nytimes.com/2026/10/17/busin… via @NYTimes
