I'm all for investing in Main Street. Did you call out Trump freezing IRA funding - actual investments in atoms? What about Trump calling to scrap the CHIPS Act, more investment in atoms? How about tariffs on raw materials like lumber?
So far, this year in the US equity markets have all been about “mean reversion”. In other words, this time isn’t different and long term trends are still holding (such as the percentage of the Mag7 in the S&P500 Index).
What happens from here?
Hard to tell but being long Main St (atoms vs bits) may turn out to be the right framing. Businesses that move stuff around virtually in the ether may not actually be creating the GDP and value we were told it did. Implications here are vast. Making real things and selling them seems like terra firma.
Also, and most importantly in the short term, we still haven’t seen the Tax bill nor the final attempts of the Bureaucratic state to thwart DOGE pressure to know with certainty where we go from here.

The arrest and detention of Mahmoud Khalil—a green card holder whose wife is eight months pregnant—is a blatant assault on the First Amendment and a sign of advancing authoritarianism under Trump. He must be released now.
This extreme escalation is an egregious violation of first amendment rights. Now is the moment for everyone to speak out and oppose this as fiercely and loudly as possible.
ALT This weekend, DHS targeted and seized Mahmoud Khalil as punishment for his political speech, and indicated that they are revoking his green card. They have since handed him over to ICE where he is being detained — his location unknown — and held for deportation without due process. This is what fascist governments do, and it will not stop here. This extreme escalation is the test case; the Trump/Musk administration is trying to see how far they can go without public outrage and legal checks on their power. Now is the moment to speak out and oppose this as fiercely and loudly as possible.
