John Duncan is my favourite artist. He elevates the soul with his paintings in a manner which isn't kitsch or stilted. You can read my analysis of one of his greatest paintings in @SolsticePrint

Alot of commenting on this, and Stoat is totally correct. My 2 cents is that a deterioration in the Platonic foundation of Western Art has caused people to lock themselves into a spirit of mundane referentiality. Da Vinci talks about transcending the spirit of mere copying often
That’s why 90 percent of artists these days are mediocrities. You got to draw from your imagination most of the time and use reference only when you feel you’re getting stuck. We need to get people out of constant studycel mode and into composing actual pictures.

It was a pleasure speaking with @NathanCJHood about a few things related to this. The fuller position is laid out in my article 'On Contemporary Art' featured in @SolsticePrint

I purchased this. I am curious about this idea of renewing western civilisation through art. It arrives just before the equinox - the synchronicity is pleasing - in a brown envelope with real postage stamps.

Every piece on my page was made by hand — first drawn, then built in 3D and painted. No generation. In a feed full of AI, that still means something to me. If it does to you too, prints are in bio — limited, never reprinted. Deneuve 4:44
