Vehicle-to-grid duty cycles are much easier on the battery than EV drive cycles, and also ensure that the battery spends less time sitting fully charged. The result is that V2G can actually extend the lifespan of an EV battery.

During my time at WMG, one of the research groups did an extensive 2 year study on cells that are closely related to those used in the Model S and X, over numerous simulated climates, and found that vehicle-to-grid could improve EV battery lifespan by 10%
