🆕 Our ESA/Webb Picture of the Month sees stars brewing in a cosmic cauldron ⭐🔮 This is the star-forming region LHA 120-N 159 (N159), which is located in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). It is what astronomers call a H II region: an area of space filled with ionised hydrogen gas. 1/3
A nebula made of clouds of gas and dust with stars forming within. In the centre and out to the left it is filled with thin, wispy blue gas that forms delicate layers. Around this are thicker orange clouds with dark ridges. Thin red filaments of gas cross the centre of the nebula. Glowing bubbles in the gas contain dense, very bright clusters of stars. In the edges, distant stars are visible as bright points on a dark background.

. @ESA_Euclid discovers its first comet ☄️ That's quite impressive for a #DarkUniverse detective 🕵️ meant to take deep, steady images of distant galaxies, not fast-moving tiny objects. Discover more about the comet 👉 esa.int/Science_Exploration/…

🌍South Africa has the famous Table Mountain.. 🔴Mars has Amazonis Mensa, which is three times as high! And can you spot the ancient lava flows? Zoom into this slice of Red Planet shaped by wind and lava 👉 esa.int/ESA_Multimedia/Image…
A rectangular image of the orange surface of Mars. The centre-right is dominated by a large mound called Amazonis Mensa. Diagonal lines created by wind erosion are visible on either side of it. The left half of the image is a smooth surface with some impact craters, a wide valley, and a small snaking water-carved channel. These have been partially filled in by smooth material: ancient lava flows.
