Just got my one credit clear of Biomechanical Toy. Even managed to beat dumplechan's score despite missing some secret items here and there. Total eurojank but it had its moments and I actually liked the euro collect a-thon scoring because some of it requires proper routing.

A deep dive into Dungeon Explorer and my time speedrunning it. More than just a Gauntlet clone and overall, a memorable early Turbografx 16 game that's not a shmup. youtu.be/3gImIL9znLk

Even back in the mid/late 80’s when continuing started to be a thing I instinctively didn’t do it. Partly because it just felt wrong, and partly because I didn’t want to waste my money and inevitably dying quicker than I would’ve doing a full restart.

Sometimes, I still wake up and wonder if there are any indie devs out there who have the balls to do real perma death in their action games and not make another roguelite. Then I go to Steam and realize that is not the case.
We have temporarily taken the site offline.
This is Jan, the real CEO of Playasia.
After weeks of increasingly sophisticated and relentless attacks against us and several of our trusted partners, we made the decision to go dark while we complete a full security audit and harden our systems.
This is not a step we take lightly. Playasia has been our home, and your home, for nearly 24 years, and the thought of stepping away even for a short while breaks my heart.
These attacks are not random. From what we have seen in the attackers' own source code comments, we are listed as one numbered goal among tens of thousands of other targets. That tells us this is a coordinated, systemic campaign, not something aimed only at Playasia.
Watching our team work around the clock, exhausted but still fighting to protect what we have built together, has brought me to tears more than once. Many of them have families who depend on them. I have my own. The passion that has driven this community of gamers serving fellow gamers for over two decades is something we will not let anyone take from us.
We have reported everything to the relevant authorities and cybercrime units worldwide and continue to share every detail that can help them pursue those responsible. We are doing everything in our power to protect our customers, our partners, and our people.
Your support over the years has meant more than I know how to say. Please stay tuned for updates on our social channels and here.
We will be back.

KEEPING IN THEME WITH THE TIME OF THE YEAR.
GHOULS ‘N GHOSTS. NO DEATH.
Didn’t think I’d get this one as fast as I did.

The funny thing is that we’ve already seen a proper return-to-form for Castlevania; it’s called Haunted Castle Revisited.
Castlevania has had more schisms than the church!
The series is currently in its singing contemporary songs on a Zoom call during COVID-19 era.

If you, like me, are in the mood for a GOOD Castlevania game, this video (and it’s comments section) can get you up and running with the series peak Akumajou Dracula for Sharp X68000 as fast as you can download the files.

Great example here of how removing contact damage trivializes even the boss fights, there are literally no consequences for just hugging the boss at all times, when they attack you can just hit your "press for I-frames" button. No stakes, no risk.

I bet a lot of people want to see DSP play that new Castlevania, but it's all kayfabe like pro wrestling. You will never convince me that he's as bad as he appears to be at gaming. xitter.cf/timetogozerk/status/21…
Can’t wait for the “game journalist” to somehow screw up in Castlevania Belmont Curse like he did with Symphony of the Night #Castlevania #BelmontCurse #SymphonyoftheNight

I’ve notice a lot of Final Fight talk on here over the past year, rightly so,it’s a good game!About 12years ago (damn I’m old..) I made a tips/1cc video using Haggar to help with people going for the clear. Good Luck! youtu.be/WHs4gxwUKZY?is=PeT5… #finalfight

The issue I see is "anti-art" accusations are always lobbed at those who consider gameplay the "art" of games, and based on the arguments they make, I don't think it is.
The more interesting question to me is: are sports art? ↓

I think arcade game genres would always end up struggling against less frustrating genres like Metroidvanias, RPGs, and roguelikes but imo it was credit-feeding that rendered them truly obsolete in your average player's mind. IMO the same thing could have happened to Souls.

Last year for October I decided to finally sit down and clear Ghosts ‘n Goblins. Now that it’s that time again, I figure why not go even further?
Here’s my no death run of GHOSTS ‘N GOBLINS.
