The NBA will change the travel rule to be gather plus 3 steps soon. They regularly allow it now and once in a while they allow gather plus FOUR steps like this LeMelo play. I’ve been saying this for a couple years.

Anthony Davis with a 40pt 10reb 61%fg performance in the 2023 WCF. AD was the best postseason Laker 2020-2024. Best postseason NBA defensive player in that stretch and one of the better offensive players. AD was tremendous at taking advantage of mismatches. Defender too small, he bullies them in the paint. Put a big guy on him that’s not very athletic, he easily beats them on the drive.

They really didn’t allow offensive players to initiate any contact in the past without an offensive foul caller. Today, you can clear out defenders with a hard push. Imagine Wilt Chamberlain or Shaq today clearing out defenders with their size and strength

For everyone asking, “how is this legal?” It’s not! He gathers with his right foot on the floor and would be permitted two steps by rule (left-right). He takes four steps after gathering the ball and travels.

Another good video from @uhatebasketball The Kobe move was much tighter with his pivot foot barely moving while SGA moved his pivot foot one foot in distance AND then dragged it…both factors are travel violations on their own.
