Residents allege that a road alignment originally finalised in the 2013 Master Plan has been altered, placing nearly 1,000 flats across ten apartment complexes at risk of demolition. The controversy has raised serious questions about the role of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and the interests driving the changes. According to affected residents, apartments were constructed with official permissions and Occupancy Certificates (OCs) under the earlier alignment. They now fear losing their homes because of a revised plan, with around 850 families reportedly facing displacement. Residents of the 7 Hills apartment complex, built in 2009, are among those gripped by uncertainty. They question why homeowners who invested their life savings in legally approved properties should bear the consequences of changes made years later. Allegations have also emerged over development agreements involving prime land and HMDA auctions of government-owned plots along the proposed alignment. Critics claim the changes could benefit influential real estate interests. One allegation suggests that plots reportedly worth ₹250 crore were acquired for just ₹46 crore. The central question is whether a public infrastructure project intended to ease traffic congestion is being implemented transparently or at the cost of ordinary homeowners.
