In 2001-02, Allen Iverson won the scoring title at 31.4 PPG on 31.7 TSA (-2.8 rTS. ) According to TS Points Added - cost his team 1.8 points per game. Ranked 214th of 216 in shooting PAC, accounting for the massive 38% of team possessions carried, says he was worth +1.2 points per game, ranked 60th of 216. This begs the question: at what point does scoring load start to pay for inefficiency? Is there a third dimension to measuring shooting production? Introducing (P)oints (A)bove (C)ost
Been toying around with the relationship between usage, efficiency, and overall impact. specigically at what point volume starts paying for inefficiency The Kobe or more recenlty Brunson clause: where they may not be the most efficient, but whose raw shooting volume still provides value that would otherwise be lost if replaced by their teammates. Below is a table of some higer usage two gaurds and atheir UW RTS: Usage Weigted Real Trueshooting % court-share.com/luma/builder…

Luka's such an elite defensive rebounder that it basically erases whatever he gives up in occasionally calamitous on-ball stuff. He's been a net-neutral defensively for half a decade now. In '16-17 the Wrong Guy won MVP and now we have to pretend all guard rebounds are fraudulent
Michael Wilbon calls Luka a β€œwondrous player” for only β€œhalf the game” and asks how someone like that could ever lead a team near a championship. Luka literally led Dallas to the NBA Finals in 2024. This isn’t basketball analysis. It’s a veteran media personality letting his disdain for a player override basic facts and common sense.

Replying to @Starro____
All good points here; if they’re going to play three guards they need to do more to leverage those unique advantages (quick and daring in passing lanes to your steals point) instead of trying to make guards play traditional wing/forward roles.

The Thunder went extremely under on ALL the PNR that included him and Wemby. The Spurs' three-guard lineups won't work as expected without a consistent perimeter threat. for all the value Castle bring value via defensive POA versatility, POA, rim pressure, and connective passing He is a wing masquerading as a PG His high turnovers and non-threatening spacing do limit the Spurs. Ty Jerome on the Spurs for example is box office no? That role is the missing piece, not necceralriy growing as a self creator (though that would be amazing) No this is funny enough. More props to Wemby for being on a generational trajectory. In one of his worst offensive games he was arguably the best player on the court simply because of his defensive impact on a possession-by-possession basis. All the bets lineups last reg season consisted of either vasell or champ, fox is extremely valuable on O due to his ball retention, spurs as a whole need to mash steals

Needs it own piece but man Failed Wardell by not adjusting to the times or regression of Draymond Been needed a 6'10 rim running 5, not a rookie Wiseman and not porzingus or even Looney (goat)
The warriors been one of the worse watches in the sport since 24 AI generated players all over, still running small ball draymond gimmicks in 26

Looking forward to this brothers analysis all season
While there are sustainability Qs around what Javonte Green can do as a spot up guy, there’s *some* merit to the idea of building β€œAusar lineups” with an unmatchable level of defensive juice next to him - by way of >= 1/2 of Reed or Green. Perhaps DET found a new button to push

If Ant runs in transition and attacks off catch, his biggest gripe of LARPing as a creator on ball is largely taken care of (more bandwidth for defense too) He could seriously be a high 20s on +5-7 rTS guy without needing anything close to a notable on-ball share to do so
