We joined Holy Cross Nursery and Wishing Well Nursery in Belfast for a St Patrick's Day celebration as part of the ASPIRE Project, a PEACEPLUS cross-border initiative to promote inclusion, respect and mutual understanding. Exciting to see the joy and value for the children.

We were delighted to meet Junior Ministers Aisling Reilly and Pam Cameron yesterday. We had a valuable discussion on humanitarian support for people in crisis and how preventative, community-based care can be embedded in the Programme for Government.

Today I led on the @uuponline motion calling for an Executive led Loneliness strategy, which was passed unanimously. I got to reflect on a conversation I had, 35 years ago, with an elder lady who came into the butchers shop I worked in mostly for the chat. Loneliness really can be pervasive and debilitating, but we can beat it. It’s time to value friends more than followers and create a sense of purpose for everyone. Thanks to @BritishRedCross and @agenipolicy and the wider collective for all their help. #Hope #UnionOfPeople

Delighted the Assembly will be debating a motion today on the need for a Loneliness Strategy. Loneliness impacts people of all ages, and can have a severe impact on physical and mental health. A cross-departmental Strategy is needed to address this issue on a long-term basis.

Today we co-signed a letter to all @niassembly Members calling for action to tackle loneliness in Northern Ireland. Nearly 30% of unpaid carers in N. Ireland report feeling lonely always or often. A restored Executive must prioritise a cross-departmental approach to loneliness.
