At the Transport Select Committee on Transport in Parliament giving my views on synthetic - or E-fuels - as an alternative to EVs. As a parallel technology that could cut tailpipe emissions by around 50% without consumers having to buy EVs, E-fuels certainly have a role. But the challenge is making them at scale so they could be affordable to mainstream consumers to have enough of a significant air quality or environmental benefit. We donāt want synthetic fuels to become just an elite petrol for affluent performance and supercar owners.

Sadly, the number of suicide and attempted suicide incidents we attend are increasing.
Our crews now attend an average of 37 suicides or attempted suicides per day, compared to 22 in 2019 and 17 five years ago.
