I was born, raised, and educated as a Massachusetts Yankee. Liberal as fuck, and a lifelong Democrat. I also worked in Boston until my early 30's, when I moved to other parts of the country for career opportunities. People in the Northeast don't do much pretending. They may seem unfriendly, but it's just because they're real. They'd be the first to give you the coat off their backs if you were cold and needed it. I also come from a long line of agnostics or atheists. All of this makes me a realist. I value fact over fiction. Science over dogma. Truth over lies. Authenticity over insincerity. Honesty above everything else. This is why it hurts me so much that our Democratic lawmakers have deceived us about our elections since 2016. They've known that all of them were rigged for Trump (2020 only failing due to COVID mail-in votes), but decided not to contest them or even tell us the truth. I feel completely betrayed, and wonder why it is that so many others aren't furious.

I am beyond exhausted. I've spent the entire day reaching out to anyone and everyone I can, trying to find support for our soldiers and the civilians still living here in Donetsk Oblast. We are on the verge of a humanitarian crisis. Curfew is expected to increase to 19 hours a day. Businesses are packing up and leaving. The situation is getting worse, and the people who remain are going to need more help than ever. And somehow, at the worst possible time, my Facebook account has been restricted following what I believe was a mass-reporting attack, and my Instagram has been deactivated. I've started a LinkedIn account, and I'll be putting more effort into my other platforms while I try to resolve this mess with Meta. linkedin.com/in/april-hugget… It's incredibly disappointing. Especially when social media is one of the most important tools I have to reach people willing to help. I feel like the #US government has turned its back on us, and every day it becomes harder to find the support we desperately need. But tomorrow I'll get up and keep working, because my soldiers still need equipment, civilians still need assistance, and none of this stops just because I'm exhausted. If you can help, or connect me with someone who can, please reach out. We need people now more than ever. #SupportUkraine

BREAKING: MONEY, MEET MOUTH! Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez transfers a staggering $1 million to Abdul El-Sayed’s Senate campaign — supercharging his chances. This is REAL Democratic leadership… “I’m not waking up on November 4th wishing I did more to combat the smears aimed at Abdul. I’m leaving everything I can on the field,” AOC said. El-Sayed is one of the most promising Democratic politicians in a generation, wedding an effortless, winning charisma with an unshakable focus on the kitchen table issues that Michigan voters actually care about like universal healthcare and ending Trump’s costly foreign wars. Meanwhile, his MAGA opponent Mike Rogers has nothing to offer voters. He’s deeply in bed with this pedophile-riddled White House and even supported the Iran War at first until he realized that it was electoral poison. Since he has no real policies to speak of, Rogers has relied on Islamophobia and racebaiting to attack El-Sayed. He’s a slimy, spineless enabler of this administration’s worst abuses. A vote for him is a vote for an extension and expansion of Trump’s unprecedented crime spree. In addition to her sizeable donation to the Abdul for Michigan Victory Fund, AOC is also busing around the state to drive turnout and energize the party’s Democratic base. “If Abdul can win in Michigan, anybody can win anywhere,” she said recently. Take a good look at AOC and El-Sayed and one thing becomes immediately clear: the future of the Democratic Party has never been brighter. Please ❤️ and share if you’d vote for Abdul El-Sayed!

This gives me hope.
This is not complicated! Russia has roughly 140 million people. Iran has around 90 million. MAGA has around 77 million and falling. It is not America, but a political faction inside it, and one already showing signs of fraying. Against them stands democratic America, Canada, Britain, Europe, Australia and the wider allied world: well over a billion people, commanding vastly greater wealth, technology, capital, military capability, universities, institutions and industrial capacity. Yet somehow the larger side has allowed itself to look frightened. Russia is dangerous, certainly. But much of its best military capacity has already been consumed in Ukraine. Iran can cause enormous disruption, but it is hardly an economic or technological superpower. And then there is MAGA: the odd member of this axis because it operates inside the United States. Its political base has been sold a story of national revival by a remarkably small collection of billionaires and ideologues who would quite like lower taxes, weaker regulation and fewer constraints on their power, even if dismantling those constraints weakens the Western system that made their fortunes possible. MAGA should also understand exactly what it is choosing to become. Governments change. Presidents leave office. Political movements fracture. The institutions they attack do not simply vanish with them. There will be an ordinary morning after Trump. Courts will still open. Elections will still be held. European regulators will still regulate. Allied governments will still choose where to buy weapons, technology and energy. Contracts will still be written. Laws will still apply. And countries with long institutional memories will remember very clearly who threatened them, who helped them and who tried to tear the system apart. That is the part MAGA seems to misunderstand. It is behaving as though this moment is permanent. It is not. The democratic world is larger than Trump, larger than MAGA and considerably older than both. Its institutions were built precisely so that one faction, one government or one collection of billionaires cannot simply bulldoze the rules and expect everyone else to shrug forever. That is the real picture. Disruption is not strength. And temporary power is not permanent power. The extraordinary achievement of this axis has been convincing more than a billion people on the stronger side to behave as though a much smaller coalition holds all the cards. It does not. Perhaps it is time the democratic world remembered who is actually outnumbered. And perhaps MAGA should remember that history continues after the people who thought they owned it are gone.

Absolutely **phenomenal** from @JoelWebbon. Bravo. Huckabee thought he'd throw out a threat, a false accusation, and use his political power to intimidate and silence a U.S. Citizen. Turns out, Webbon isn't someone you want to try to silence, because he took Huckabee's threat and false accusation and metaphorically beat him like a red-headed stepchild (or disloyal diplomat) with the truth. Webbon writes... "Ambassador, calling for the arrest and harassment by law enforcement of a law-abiding American taxpayer, in no uncertain terms, is a whole other level of treason - even greater than you've already committed. I’ll have you know, America has a proud history of calling for the heads of public servants who betray We the People. Our nation was founded upon the precept. It is one of the prouder aspects of our glorious heritage. And on December 3, the Department of Defense will execute a man at Fort Hood for being a traitor. You are no less a traitor. And in the end, the dead from your treason will be far higher than the victims of his handgun. You have committed treason on a grand scale, on foreign soil, betraying your oath of office and the people who commissioned you to do the job that you have sat in Jerusalem, doing for a different nation altogether. And people have died as a result - not just countless Christians thanks to illegal settler violence, who are carrying out the precepts of Talmudic Judaism that declare Gentile lives to be worth nothing - but Americans in Gaza, not “caught in the crosshairs” as though they are collateral damage, but shot on purpose through the head with a sniper’s bullet, another shot through the shoulder blades while wearing a press jacket, and another was dragged behind a car until they died. And all of them, murdered while Israel knew there was an American ambassador in Jerusalem who would not defend his people, but instead, defend Jewish Palestine. The Bible says in the watchman passage of Ezekiel that if it’s your job to warn of danger and no one listens, it’s on them. But if you don’t warn of danger, then that blood is on you. “But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.” What should be required at your hand, Ambassador? You were the watchman. You chose not to sound the alarm. And God has spoken. You are washed in the blood, Mike. But not the blood of Christ - but the blood of Christians. It cried out from the ground, and you tried to quiet it... But now, an American pastor has criticized your conduct, and you have applauded the call for his arrest due to his free speech. It appears Israel has rubbed off on you. Political prisoners aren’t allowed in the United States, Ambassador. You’re confusing your one true love, Israel, with the United States. Your affection for Jewish Palestine appears to have survived every inconvenience except an American Citizen insisting that you answer for your disloyalty. You’re not angry about dead Americans. You’re not angry about dead Christians. You’re angry that YOU must be held to account. But sir, this is America, and you have forgotten who we are. You were appointed to represent Americans abroad, including Americans who reject your politics and dispute your perverted theology. The office belongs to the nation, and you have sullied it with the stench of anti-Gentile hatred and treason. Frankly, we’ll be damned before we let you remake America into Israel’s image." Finally, an American Who Looks Like the Brochure 🇺🇸👏! There is a particular kind of American that we Europeans were raised on, a man with a jaw like a filing cabinet who speaks quietly because he has never once needed to raise his voice, and on Monday in Warsaw one of them actually turned up. Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, NATO's top commander, explained that a Russian attack would be futile, and he did it with the mild patience of someone telling a toddler that the oven is hot. His theory of victory, which all 32 allies back, is that NATO will destroy "anything and everything" keeping an attacking force alive, with land forces rushing to the breach while aircraft, ships, space and cyber units dismantle whatever sits behind it. War, he added, is neither imminent nor inevitable, and he said this only weeks after Moscow waved its nuclear arsenal about over Kaliningrad. It was glorious, and it was also deeply embarrassing for the failed Trump regime, whose parade of beta males has spent years stamping its little feet, threatening its friends and flattering its enemies in the belief that this is what strength looks like. Then a proper American walks into a room in Warsaw, speaks for a few minutes without shouting at anyone, and the whole lot of them are revealed as what they always were, which is frightened little men in oversized suits playing soldiers while the grown-ups get on with defending the continent.
NATO has finally put its conventional war plan into plain English. If Russia attacks allied territory, NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander says the alliance will block the assault, blunt its momentum, then break the military system sustaining it, including logistics, communications and command. Good. Moscow now knows what a conventional war could cost. But there is a glaring hole. Russia is already attacking Europe below that threshold: sabotage, cyber operations, drones, proxy networks, infrastructure attacks and suspected assassination plots. NATO knows how it intends to win the war Russia cannot afford to start. What Europe still lacks is an equally clear theory for winning the war Russia is already fighting. That is the problem our article tackles.

BREAKING: AMEN! The Catholic Church SLAMS Pete Hegseth’s big public execution announcement as a “barbaric promotion of a culture of death.” The gloves have really come off now… “It is with shock and great sorrow that I have learned of the Department of War’s decision to publicly livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan,” Archbishop Paul S. Coakley, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, said in an official statement. Yesterday, our alcoholic Fox News host turned “Secretary of War” proudly revealed that Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter who killed 13 people and injured 32 others in 2009, will be publicly executed. The announcment proved to be red meat for the so-called Christians in the MAGA movement, because apparently they’d rather live in Ancient Rome than in a civilized western democracy. They delight in carnage. “Our God is the God of life. In no way can Hassan’s actions be condoned but this decision is a barbaric promotion of a culture of death and must be reconsidered,” Archbishop Coakley continued. “The word of God exhorts us: ‘do not repay anyone evil for evil' (Romans 12:17). The public execution even of one who has done grave harm will only further undermine the moral fabric of our nation and be a blight on the conscience of its people.” “I pray for the intercession of Our Lady of Good Counsel that we as a nation may always choose life even in the most trying times and circumstances,” he added. We couldn’t agree more. Hasan, who is confined to a wheelchair due to gunshot injuries incurred during his attack, deserves to spend the rest of his life in a prison cell. Executing him in a public has nothing to do with justice and everything to do with an administration that fetishizes violence, particularly “holy” violence against Muslims, above all else. Hegseth and Trump are pandering to their base and dragging our entire nation into the gutter in the process. You can feel perfectly justified anger and even hatred for Hasan’s murderous actions and still not want to live in an Iron Age culture where people are killed in public by the government. Hegseth is taking a page right out of the ISIS playbook with this one and no doubt hopes that this display of brutality will prompt bloodthirsty young men to enlist in the military or ICE, which is exactly why the caliphate spread its execution videos online. These Christian Nationalists are exactly the same as the radical Islamists that they despise. America is truly circling the drain now. Thankfully, the Catholic Church is using its full weight as a 2000-year-old institution to take a moral stand against this demonic regime. We must all lend our voices to their fight for a juster, kinder, more Christ-like society. Please ❤️ and share to thank Archbishop Coakley for speaking out!

Yes. Males evolved as the secondary sex to support the primary sex and take on drone-type tasks in the community. Patriarchy is unnatural because men are not leaders. Men are most content in strict hierarchies where they’re told exactly what to do—military, athletic teams, etc.

Jack Smith was taking direct insults such as being called a "dirtbag" while another ridiculous grandstanding senator said that Smith made him want to throw up in his mouth. Throughout the entire hearing Smith was unflappable, demonstrating a remarkable civic professionalism. He simply answered the questions honestly to the best of his ability not once getting defensive and losing his composure. I for one am very proud of Jack Smith. Any American citizen of good faith who isn't captured in the talons of a toxic cult would have been able to see with clarity a stoic defense of the rule of law on the part of Jack Smith. Anyone thinking otherwise might want to do some serious soul searching on how one might have allowed oneself to be so susceptible to cultism.
Jack Smith exemplifies moral courage. MAGA Senators exemplify arrogance, dishonesty, and foolishness. Which is why Jack Smith whips them all single-handed, again and again.

Yesterday, I posted that there are so many things behaviorally wrong with Pete Hegseth, that I couldn't begin to list them all. It's hard to diagnose this guy from afar because he's such an ambitiously disingenuous persona but here are some observations: He is arrogant and ignorant - a Trumpian trait that's run amok. We just saw it in Eric Schmitt. His narrative never has any depth. He speaks in absolutes, as if what he claims is good and what he claims is right are not even complex subjects, or debates borne of any perspective. He fixates on American Exceptionalism but believes that it's only defined by musculature and pomposity. He couldn't care less for us being a shining example for others, or a force for a greater good. You never hear that from him. He couldn't care less for sharing - strategy or even that there IS a strategy - because he doesn't believe in being accountable. He doesn't present arguments. He doesn't share justifications. The only thing he cares less for than transparency, is humanity. His inhumanity is buttressed by his delusion that he is starring in a war movie, or a video game. This makes him come off as a caricature, and a toxic one. Because he can't shut the movie off and he can't disconnect the video game. That's why I used the word "delusion." He creates lasting disdain for America, both at home and on a global level, like few others ever have and make no mistake - this disdain will permeate for a generation. He is a religious fanatic, although he uses God as a prop and a punch line. Some of the clips from his speech yesterday were --- I'm at a loss to describe it. As a behaviorist, I can feel the things he's been accused of - like misogyny and xenophobia and the reckless sharing of info - and alcoholism - underlying his attitude and every utterance, and you can feel how unapologetic he is for any of it. And speaking of alcoholism, he is drunk on power, and when you combine that with lack of accountability and religious zeal, you have a most dangerous convergence, which has led him to butt heads with our best, and unashamedly gut our military leadership. He is a brazen politician serving an audience of one. He is a Made for TV concoction, and a vacuous mishmash of hormones and neurotransmitters. He would have already been impeached in the House from Massie's motion, but the House recessed. At a time when disgrace, danger, and disturbances are everywhere - the fact that this bigoted mock-macho maniac is running the US Defense Dept. is one of the most disgraceful, dangerous and disturbing things of all.

Before we move on from the Eric Schmitt humiliation to the next Trumpian GOP humiliation, I wanted to point out a few things for context: 1. Schmitt smirked - visibly - when he asked Jack Smith if he attended a Hawks game in Atlanta and Smith said "no." He was playing gotcha, and this was the entire purpose of the Smith hearing - garnering sound bites that may help reverse a GOP polling slide. 2. Seconds after the smirk, Schmitt - unable to contain his ill-conceived glee - mentioned perjury - twice. He couldn't control himself. 3. Smith remained unflappable throughout. He wasn't emotional nor indignant. In fact, he was respectful and thoughtful, and it was his respect and reasoned thought that led to the uncovering of the mix-up, as he himself recalled attending a different basketball game in a different city, because he was thinking and not feeling. 4. Klobuchar played the detective and she did her part with class. She didn't call Schmitt an idiot, a dirtbag, a presumptive partisan hack, or any name. She calmly pointed out the Hawks/Hawkeyes error. 5. Schmitt, who IS an idiot, a dirtbag, and a presumptive partisan hack, attacked Klobuchar and claimed she didn't have the floor to speak. Then, someone must have whispered something to him, and he shut up. 6. In the few minutes between Schmitt's questioning and Klobuchar's explanation, the RW media machine, like the rabid dogs they are, were out in force amplifying the "gotcha" on social media. Hannity and Benny Johnson and others later deleted their tweets, and numerous Community Notes were posted - that's my favorite feature on X, btw. 7. Even after the embarrassment, Schmitt went on the Charlie Kirk podcast and was complimented for his questioning, and he went with it, not putting any truth our there with any context, let alone any contrition. Add scumbag to my epithets for him. 8. And of course, GOP lawmakers STILL spin the hearing falsely - even now; Hawley in particular (like Schmitt - also from Missouri). OK. Take this whole thing in its entirety, to see it for what it is. Look at the sordid intent, the lack of shame, the gaslighting, the lack of contrition - today it was Eric Schmitt, tomorrow it will be someone else, and they keep throwing false narratives out there - for three reasons: first, they're desperate and losing; second, their followers are tribal, frothing, and addicted to dopamine; and third, they play to an audience of one, whose entire rise to power was based on false narratives - a malignantly narcissistic audience of one. It's the same malignantly narcissistic audience that - as Jack Smith knows and can prove - took classified documents with nefarious intent. And it's the same malignantly narcissistic audience - that we ALL know - engineered and inflamed a shameful insurrection to thwart the peaceful transfer of power after LOSING an election. And ... it's the same malignantly narcissistic audience that we need to neuter as a lame duck - and that neutering needs to be Party wide. We need to return to truth and doing the job - like Jack Smith, to fairness and decorum - like Amy Klobuchar, and to empathy, contrition, non-disordered brains, and an electorate capable of reasoned thought. The entire incident is proof that the entire GOP needs to be voted out.

Jack Smith is professional, admirable, and unflappable. His motivations are unimpeachable. His adherence to the Rule of Law is steadfast, and so refreshing at this moment in time - a pleasant reminder of how it should be. There's zero political rhetoric emanating from him. He shows no personal or professional sensitivity to attack - he communicates accurately and focuses - always and only - on the facts and the law. He was an exemplary special prosecutor and would be an ideal attorney general.
