It's noticeable how the British legal system can be used to ensure media anonymity in the face of serious sexual assault acusations if the individual concerned has a lot of money.

Six people came to Gerald's gate at dawn on Sunday to bear witness, and the bull, who had never been witnessed before, walked over to see what it involved.
They had a banner. It said the thing banners say. They had phones, and candles in jars, and a woman at the front with a sign that asked the farmer to look into the eyes of the animal he was exploiting, and they had chosen the gate because the account had made the field famous, and they stood in a row in the dark and waited for the sun to come up on their vigil.
The sun came up on a Hereford bull in the south corner with a robin on his head, lying down.
He got up at about half past seven, as he does. He stretched, which is a thing worth watching in itself, and he looked at the gate, and he saw six strangers in a row, and because a Hereford has no fear in him and a great deal of curiosity, he walked the length of the field to find out what they were.
The woman at the front had been told that the animals are broken. That they are kept in fear. She stood her ground as nine hundred kilos of beef came at her at the pace of a slow river and stopped at the gate, and put his great white face over the top bar, and breathed on her sign.
Then he licked her phone.
A bull licks what is in front of him. It is how he reads the world. He had the phone, and the sign, and then the sleeve of the man next to her, and then he found a bit of the gate he liked and set about that, with the enormous rough tongue going like a shoe brush, and six people who had come to look into the eyes of suffering stood and were licked by it, at dawn, in a Herefordshire lane, while a robin sat between his ears and watched them.
The farmer's wife came down with a tray of tea at eight. She did not ask what they were doing. She said it was cold and here was tea. Two of them took it.
Gerald stood at that gate for an hour. He had never had an audience come to him before and he seemed to feel it would be rude to leave. At about nine he went back to the south corner, lay down in the exact spot, and shut his eyes, and the vigil found itself bearing witness to a bull asleep in a field, and after a while the banner came down.
The woman with the sign stayed longest. She stood at the gate on her own for twenty minutes after the others had gone to the cars, looking at the bull, and the farmer's wife, who had come back for the cups, stood with her, and neither of them said anything, and then the woman said "he's very calm", and the farmer's wife said "he's always been like that", and the woman nodded, and went.
The farmer found a candle in a jar on the gatepost on Monday morning, still there, burnt down. He has left it. Gerald has not looked at it. He had his witnesses, he found them wanting, and he has gone back to the only work he has ever done, which is to lie in a field and be the thing they came to argue about.

Long post worth the read. I have a close friend who flies private jets. He flew Lear 60 for over 15 years and now flies a Gulfstream. This is a copy and paste of his response to me asking him if I thought Ice was the issue.
“We always fly in ridiculous cold temperatures.”
“Usually you get the bad ice when the temperatures are like 0 to negative 20. Believe it or not, there's a point where it gets too cold for ice. At negative 40, you pretty much can't get ice. Besides that, the airplane is equipped with hot wings and hot tail.”
“I flew the Lear 60 for like 15 years. It's a no joke airplane and probably the most dangerous airplane I've ever flown. It has a super critical wing. The airflow has to be perfect. When it gets into rough air and turbulence, it will easily stall. It has stalled on me at 41,000 feet just because we got into some turbulence. (On the way to Palm Beach as a matter of fact. ) we recovered and got her flying again around 30,000 ft. Scary
But here's the problem. This airplane has a terrible coffin corner. (At high altitudes) what that means is, you fly in a really narrow window where if you lose 20 knots, it stalls. And if you gain 20 knots, it goes into overspeed. The air goes supersonic over the wing and it goes into a high speed stall, or worse, a Mach tuck.
So if you stall, the normal recovery is to push the yoke forward to lower the nose and gain air speed again. At low altitude, you can push really hard and recover quickly. But in the 60... if you push hard, it will gain air speed and go into a high speed stall, it doesn't take much. It's very sensitive. The 60 has super short wings that don't make much lift. So then you high speed stall, and the computer is yelling at you... OVERSPEED! So then you pull back and enter a low speed stall. And you go back and forth trying to keep it in the air speed window.
This whole thing is pretty scary. And you should recover basically by using your finger tips using super small corrections. You can't over do it. If you try to muscle the recovery, she gets mad and will become unrecoverable. If she enters a mach tuck. You're done.”
“I taught the Lear 60 to other pilots and mentored them. I told them... this airplane has a soul and it's trying to kill you. Do not ever try to top the weather. Don't go over a thunderstorm. Go around it. If it means a half hour longer, then do it. Going over the thunderstorm will go into turbulence that you might not recover from.
These pilots went right over a thunderstorm. I think it stalled which caused them to drop down into the thunderstorm and ended up in mach tuck. They picked up so much speed that it ripped off the horizontal stabilizer. At that point... chuck Yeager can't fix it.
These same pilots did something similar a couple months ago. ATC got mad at them. They poked the bear one too many times.
This is not a beginner airplane. The Gulfstream would never do this. It has HUGE margins of error and won't stall like that. But then again... it's got HUGE wings. It's a pussy cat.
The Gulfstream is like driving a 4 wheeler. The Lear 60 is like riding a uni cycle.”

I'm being mercilessly throttled by @X yet again but would love this image of support for the brilliant @MForstater and the @SexMattersOrg squad be at least seen by a few eyes. Don't like to ask, but if anyone who can actually see it could help its visibility with a repost or quote thingy, that'd be wonderful.

- Jeff Gregory, a 55-year-old pilot from Pennsylvania, with 2 decades of flying experience.
- Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, the 20-year-old co-pilot from Florida, with 3 years of flying experience.
These were the individuals flying the LearJet 60 that crashed yesterday in Palm Beach County, Florida.
Weather reports indicate a "once in a thousand years storm," with 17 inches of rain in 6 hours, hammered the Palm Beach area yesterday.
It wasn't about "DEI," it wasn't about gender, and it wasn't about a lack of experience.
It was a freak storm and a complete tragedy of circumstances. 💔
Please pray for their family and friends. 🕊

Not mentioned: she sustained her self-inflicted injuries while attempting to carry out a suicide bombing. Israel didn’t burn her body, she did, while trying to murder people and screaming Allahu Akbar.
Israel burned her body, imprisoned her, deprived her of her freedom, and subjected her to beatings and abuse behind the bars of its prisons. The scars of burns and torture have become a testimony to the pain and suffering she endured
She is Israa Jaabis the woman whose body they tried to break, but whose dignity they could never take away
She is the Queen of the Earth, crowned not by physical beauty, but by her resilience, the strength of her will, and her humanity

Israa Jaabis was severely burned after detonating a car bomb at a police stop near Maale Adumim, Israel in 2015, which also severely injured an Israeli policeman. Convicted of attempted murder, she served 8 years in prison before being released in a hostage deal in 2023.

I saw Skin in about 2002 at Guilfest, at the end of her set she ran around the crowd singing and out of 2500 there selected me for a brief hug.
She's unbelievably beautiful and tall too. I was in love and still am don't care that she's a lesbian, she's an artist I adore.

She was falling 27,000 feet in a minute in an iced-up jet. In about 35 seconds she declared a mayday, gave her tail number, descent rate, overspeed and a 60-degree bank. That's the job. Then she died with eight other people, and you're grading her tone. Fuck you.
A pilot should not:
🔘become hysterical
🔘speak too quickly to be intelligible
🔘say, "We're going to crash into the ground!"
🔘scream like a little girl
🔘hyperventilate
🔘scream like a little girl again
A pilot needs a certain disposition. This is not it. That's the reality.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The aircraft was in an uncontrolled overspeed dive exceeding 20,000 ft/min from cruising altitude. Expecting calm is unrealistic; male pilots have screamed in CVRs facing death, e.g. Western 2605.

The awful comments hurt my heart. Yes she was young (the average age of Battle of Britain pilots was 20), but she kept her composure and communicated while banked 60 degrees, nose down, falling 20,000 ft in a 100 seconds. Only at the end did she lose it. Who wouldn't? Be kind 🥺

A really long and busy day, full of appointments. Charlotte is still experiencing nausea, a metallic taste and pain when eating. The antidepressants were helping, though.
The first appointment was for a massage, which was always welcome. Charlotte described the lady who massaged her as having the ‘hands of an angel’. Radiotherapy was at the much later time of 3.50 pm, followed by an appointment with the psychiatrist at 4.30 pm. She was also given her G-CSF injection to stimulate her bone marrow, which she said was quite painful.
Day after day, appointment after appointment. This is what a diagnosis of a brain tumour does. It takes over every part of your life. At just 16, Charlotte's days were filled with hospital visits, treatments, injections and medication, rather than the ordinary things a teenage girl should have been doing.
Research carried out in Charlotte's Lab at King's College London covers all types of brain tumours, helping the wider brain tumour community. We are a small, entirely self-funded charity, which means 100% of your donation goes directly to research.

Bolivia's Salar de Uyuni covers roughly 10,000 km², about the size of Hawaii's Big Island. But while the Big Island has a conical volcano, Uyuni's surface varies by less than about 1 m (3 ft).
That makes it one of the best laces on Earth for… checking satellites.
