Obscene. Legendary mismanagement by JBB.
👀 Per sources ; I'm told 1st offer was around 13M, revised offer 15M only after Carlsson 18M offer sheet & Makar 20M deal. Kucherov is a Hall Of Fame , has a great relationship w HC Cooper, will play out his contract, told his teammates and club he won't re sign in Tampa. There were 4 people in the room during meeting in Nashville; Kucherov, his agent @HockeyAgent1, GM Brisebois and HC Cooper. #Hockey

People only care about defense until it’s time to care about defense.
According to NBA’s “defensive impact” stats, Joel Embiid has allowed the second-lowest opponent FG% in the league so far among guys who contest a lot of shots (Queta is first by about a percentage point). Insane turnaround from last couple years

He's a 19 year old rookie playing for the Sacramento Kings. Scoring a ton and dropping cool clips is just fine for now lol Develop him and draft some more high-end pieces to put around him.
Darius Acuff is the poster child for empty calories scoring. He's taking everything I've disliked about guys like Anfernee Simons, Cam Thomas and Keyonte George, but stretching it to its absolute extreme. Maybe one day he'll be good. Maybe one day he'll find the difference between a good and bad shot. Maybe one day, far into the future he'll actually guard someone...anyone. The Sacramento Kings are 0-11 between preseason and regular season. Keagan Murray and Malik Monk are playing the worst basketball of their lives. Domas looks frustrated. If they replaced Acuff with even a league average PG like Quickley they'd be 2-4 or 3-3. That's how actively bad he's been at controlling tempo, defending and doing virtually anything that contributes to winning other than aura farming for his own stats. Yes, the league should call. And they should literally rescue his teammates from him. Build out a team of only offensive rebounders, screeners and defenders. Guys who will catch his grenades, rebound his misses and sing at his alter of self-focussed basketball. Darius Acuff Jr represents an archetype of everything I despise about AAU basketball, and everything I despise about Vivek Ranadive. Years from now, they'll make a documentary about what this year was like for his teammates. And then you'll see how many careers had to be ruined for this undersized Iverson wannabe to chase Rookie of the Year. It's disgusting basketball. And if you're cheering for it, you're insane.

I'm also going to re-plug this feature I wrote on Jaylen Brown last weekend since some have already begun to sour on him. It's 6 games into the season. I, personally, did not think he looked particularly healthy last night. More than that, it's going to take time for everyone to get comfortable on offense. The whining is foolish: vertical76.com/p/jaylen-brow…

Crazily, the March team was back to being one of the best rush teams in the league until they went right back to trying to forecheck and sucking horrendously in the playoffs. The organization resents the identity of the roster they've built.
Replying to @J_Fahringer
…the way the coaches want. You can’t be a heavy forecheck team that doesn’t prioritize/hang their hat on winning board battles & 50/50 pucks. So what are you? Why were you a forecheck team last year but not this year?

#Sixers coach Nick Nurse was asked VJ Edgecombe's performance in the clutch following Saturday's victory over the Charlotte Hornets. Here's what he said: “He’s done quite a bit of that in his short career. Obviously, two [games] in a row that were huge. Again, he’s really rebounding the basketball, flying in and grabbing those. He worked hard on the defensive end; the rest of the game, very spectacular for him from the field. He didn’t have a ton of great looks, I didn’t think. He made some good drives and kind of didn’t get back to balance going down the left side of the lane, probably helped his game a little bit. I don’t know what more you can say about the rebounding and the big shots.” #ThrowTheBallUp

In Foerster's last 53 games, we're looking at a player with: G: 16 A: 5 P: 20 xGF%: 50.2% (Flyers have a 49.8% with him off) CF%: 46% (Flyers 47.1% with him off) The underlyings would drop further if you included the playoff sample, but those are his 43 reg season games.

Because hockey is so free flowing, a lot of defense comes down to an allergy towards offense rather than a separate skillset. It isn't basketball where we can separate your defensive value and your offensive value because you mostly alternate possessions. Offense requires --
The odd thing to me is that a heavy man-to-man defensive system seems to work best when your team *isn't* loaded with offensive talent. When it is, you have to stifle that talent to get both the buy-in and the grittiness required to make man-to-man work.
