India’s extraordinary biodiversity — from alpine meadows to coral reefs — needs long-term field science now more than ever. Building a national network of modern ecological field stations is critical for understanding climate change, strengthening conservation, and shaping evidence-based policy for the future. It is also time to move beyond individual-centric science towards collaborative, long-term, institution-driven ecological research. @somanathan_hema @minivets @moefcc @wii_india @rameshpandeyifs @SPYadavIFS @ntca_india @IBCA_official @bhlab_india journals.biologists.com/jeb/…
HAC6.0 is faster and as accurate as SUP5.2. Dammit I’m going to have to rebasecall just to use Dorado SmallVar. What’s that? Just a variant caller more accurate than Clair3. @nanopore keeping up the tradition of blowing minds every May.
I was pre-Flongle and post Gridiron, but currently holding out for whatever comes next in the 2026 tech talk #nanoporeconf #londoncalling @nanopore

Critically ill infants need rapid treatment. Ni-Chung Le, through the Asia-Pacific N‑Care Project, showed how nanopore could deliver answers in ~5 days, changing management for half of ICU cases across the region. nanoporetech.com/about/event… #Nanoporeconf
And no bubbles please @nanopore
Replying to @BostonDynamics
Now make it do molecular biology pipetting e.g. load a sample for @nanopore sequencing
Couldn’t agree more. Keep the #P2solo. Devastating to hear it’s not “worth” it now your audience has shifted. An unnecessary setback for #frugalscience
These numbers are incredible, and the gains in speed alone worth the investment. So happy to see this is not restricted to fancy facilities in the West but being implemented world wide. For those of us who have lost loved ones to cancer, this hits hard.
#Nanopore sequencing enables genotyping of notoriously difficult samples. Kristina’s work with bear scat illustrates practical approaches for handling uncooperative DNA in conservation genetics research. Catch her #LCM2026 poster. @nanopore #conservationgenetics
3/ Genomes from wildlife can be T2T just 3 years after the first complete human genome in 2022. An ncredible pace of dvlpmnt and a fully local sequencing solution requiring no sample export. #democratising #genomics. #NanoporeConf
2/ As national #biobanks emerge globally, we are asked often “Why save bio samples? What can you do with them?” - well, I no longer have to say we are saving them for the future. Tomorrow is here today. Nanopore-only #reference #genomes can be T2T AND in situ!
1/ But there’s just no doubt - the future of biobanking and de novo genome sequencing lies in a single (higher throughput) flowcell running ULK and pore-C together + hifiasm + dorado polish + teloseq! #oneflowcell #onegenome #orgone #NanoporeConf
I’ve waffled on whether to dive into adaptive sampling or not- but reinspired today to give it a shot #NanoporeConf

The applications are astounding - how will this change what we know of nonhuman biology?
