Pallas's cats (manuls) are some of the most elusive small cats on Earth, with flat faces, low-set ears and the fluffiest coat in the cat world. Camera traps give us rare glimpses of a species few people will ever see in the wild, and every clip helps us understand and protect them. 🐾 🎥 Camera trap footage, Ladakh, Jul–Aug 2026 © Salvador Lyngdoh | WII | DWP | Ladakh 🤝 @Himalayanwolf1 @ladakhforestdept @GobindsagarBha1 #PallasCat #Manul #CameraTrap #Ladakh #WildlifeConservation #WildCats #SmallCats #IndianWildlife #WildlifeResearch #Biodiversity #HimalayanWildlife #WildlifeOfInstagram #NaturePhotography #ConservationScience #WII #DWP

Exploring how a man-made wetland became a Natural World Heritage site, #CCNHMtrainees. #MigratoryTales 🦅 @wii_c2c ccnhm cohort Visited one of India's first natural World Heritage sites, Keoladeo National Park. The interaction with the DCF and ACF of the park provided insights into the history, management aspects, and conservation challenges of this man-made wetland, and how it serves as a key stopover site in the Central Asian Flyway as well as sustaining the resident bird population. #naturalheritage #iteccourse #asiapacific #capacitybuilding #worldheritage @moefcc @wii_india @SACONCoimbatore @MEAIndia @IndianDiplomacy @ITECNetwork @GobindsagarBha1 @sureshwii @nehrutp @sureshwii @UNESCO @ASIGoI @ICCROM @IUCN @ICOMOS

🌿 A Milestone record on the Fringes of Shillong! 📸✨ Our camera traps have recorded the Critically Endangered Chinese Pangolin (Manis pentadactyla) for the very first time in our study area! 🛡️🐾 This rare record comes from our ongoing project "Assessment of Mammalian Assemblages in Meghalaya", focusing on the Riat Laban and Laitkor reserve forests right on the urban edges of Shillong. These peri-urban city forests harbor a remarkably unique and diverse assemblage of wildlife. Alongside the Chinese pangolin, our cameras captured iconic species including the Large Indian Civet, Leopard Cat, Masked Palm Civet, Yellow-throated Marten, Indian Crested Porcupine, and Kalij Pheasant. 🌲 Why This Matters: Urban-adjacent and city-fringe forests are often overlooked, yet they act as critical ecological refuges for species threatened by habitat fragmentation and urban development. Finding a Critically Endangered specialist like the Chinese pangolin sharing space with a rich suite of carnivores and small mammals proves that these urban forest patches are invaluable biodiversity strongholds that must be strictly protected and preserved. 👥 @Himalayanwolf1 @lifeofawild @nishinath @supratikroy @meghalayaforest @GobindsagarBha1 @RuchiBadola2
