Cute Abiola crying out over electricity and unbearable heat, even after investing in solar, is a conversation Nigerians should take seriously. People are spending money on generators, inverters and solar systems just to enjoy something that should be basic. At what point does surviving the electricity situation become more expensive than running an actual business? Even the backup plan now needs a backup plan.

I was waiting for my order at McDonald’s when my number was called. As I walked over to collect it, a man I didn't know grabbed the bag first. I showed him my receipt and politely said, “I think that's my order.” He immediately replied, “No, I have the same number.” The employee asked him to check his receipt, but suddenly the man changed his story. “My wife ordered it, so I don't have it,” he said, still holding the bag.
