🌍 International Publication| CISSAJK The nuclear pledge that costs nothing – but would mean everything in law Nuclear states have every reason to make a negative security assurance legally binding, yet none will act. Author: Tayyaba Khurshid, Research Officer, CISSAJK A “negative security assurance” is a pledge by a nuclear-armed state not to use or threaten to use nuclear weapons against a state that has none. Its counterpart, the positive security assurance(Opens in new window), commits nuclear states to come to the aid of a non-nuclear state if it faces a nuclear threat from elsewhere. Today, as President of the Conference on Disarmament, I opened the Plenary Meeting in Geneva. My message was clear: -> Realism is not resignation. -> The world is more dangerous, trust is eroding, and arms-control frameworks are under strain. Yet the CD remains indispensable. -> The machinery works. What is needed is the political will to act. @MIshaqDar50 @ForeignOfficePk @UN @ODA_Geneva #CD2026 #Disarmament #Multilateralism

An excellent, fact-based response by Dr. Zahir Kazmi to DW's propaganda documentary. Pakistan doesn't need lectures wrapped in double standards. Its story cannot be erased through selective narratives or one-sided documentaries. 🇵🇰
Here is what DW’s 52-minute hatchet job and @realZalmayMK years old anti Pakistan 🇵🇰 itch will not tell you: 🇵🇰 did not nuclearise South Asia, 🇮🇳 Bharat did in 1974, misusing foreign-supplied nuclear assistance. Pakistan’s deterrent was an unavoidable response, not an adventure. Pakistan’s nuclear ☢️ assets have remained secure under a robust command-and-control system, while recurring theft and trafficking of radioactive material in India are quietly ignored. Pakistan did not create the Kashmir dispute; it remains unresolved under international law. Nor did Pakistan initiate the 2025 conflict. India used a false flag operation to launch an aggression Pakistan and get a bloody nose again. Pakistan responded with restraint and resolve, restored deterrence and accepted Indian request through mediators for the ceasefire. And Pakistan is not a sponsor of terrorism. It is among terrorism’s greatest victims: more than 80,000 lives sacrificed and enormous economic losses sustained while dismantling Indian sponsored terrorist networks with its own blood. Pakistan was won through extraordinary sacrifice and has been defended through extraordinary sacrifice. We neither need DW’s certificate nor fear its propaganda. Criticise Pakistan by all means but bring facts, context and equal standards. Otherwise, call it what it is: a crude propaganda film masquerading as journalism. Shame on them. youtu.be/uxc3PH1wDFY?si=l744… via @YouTube @dwnews

Replying to @narendramodi
@narendramodi strategic ambitions continue to expand. But the foundation of national power remains under strain, with reports of declining school enrollment and daily school closures. Security is more than military power - it begins with education, health and human development.
