🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 Massie is forcing a vote to impeach Pete Hegseth next week... and Republicans tell CNN it’s going to PASS Massie triggers the vote when the House returns, and GOP sources expect their own majority to let it through, which would make Hegseth the first cabinet secretary impeached since 1876, by his own party. The case from inside the GOP: he sold Trump a fast, easy war with no exit and kept pushing escalation after the bombing stopped working. One administration official’s verdict: “I think he probably knows he’s dead but would like an exit sufficiently dramatic that it gives him a launching pad to run for POTUS.” Trump isn’t there yet. He told Hegseth days ago “you’re the best guy I have,” and a Democratic Senate won’t confirm a replacement. Source: CNN / Writer: Daniel

Supporting the preservation of internationally recognized borders, Vietnam has a lot in common with Poland in terms of geopolitics, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk [@donaldtusk] said following a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart in Hanoi. Tusk also stressed that Vietnam is interested in cooperating with Poland on arms procurement and in other areas.

“COBOL is still deeply load-bearing in banking, especially at the core: account ledgers, overnight batch processing, and card/ATM authorization. The widely cited estimates are that roughly 43% of banking systems and 95% of ATM swipes run on COBOL code, and that around 80% of in-person banking transactions pass through it.”
Zero day discovered in COBOL. You heard it here first.

What’s actually going on in Ukraine is that there is a massive incentive difference between the elites and the people. The former have grown very rich off the hundreds of billions flowing to Ukraine, while the latter’s children are conscripted to die in trenches.

I interviewed Ryu Murakami for a radio segment I created and hosted for @WNYC and @NPR. Japan's "godfather of punk novelists" was urgently concerned that Japan's youth had been abandoned--by their parents, their country, and capitalism itself. wnyc.org/story/108362-this-i…

Taylor on Indian company eMudhra using just the number 4 as the private key to sign certificates, even through two audits "The specific company that we're talking about here is called eMudhra. An Indian company. Apparently, they're an authority. They do a lot of work, I guess, with India government and governments in that region." "Their entire job is to create a very secure private key and then sign these various certificates with those private keys, which then helps secure the internet on the whole for everyone around the world." "It turns out that instead of generating the private key in a secure way, where the private key was truly random, the private key was just the number four." "There's very little information on how exactly this happened. What we know right now, the private key has been the number four for over a year. It's been signing stuff since April 2025." "Apparently, they were audited twice in this period of time. Clearly, that needs to be reviewed."

I'm old enough to remember Ukraine before February 2022. Before the great PR makeover. Before billions in British public money started flowing. Before the swastikas were quietly airbrushed out of the picture and yesterday's neo-Nazi problem became today's inconvenient history. Back in January 2015, Ross Kemp travelled to Ukraine for his Extreme World documentary series, investigating the rise of the far right and the Azov Battalion, including its neo-Nazi elements and symbolism. This was British mainstream television, not Russian propaganda. Funny how quickly history gets rewritten when the geopolitical interests change and the public chequebook comes out. Of course, Ukraine's corruption, extremist movements and internal divisions didn't magically disappear in February 2022. But suddenly, mentioning what British journalists had openly reported for years was enough to get you branded a Kremlin sympathiser. Well, here's Ross Kemp reporting from Ukraine in 2015, long before the political rebranding. No Russian bots. No Kremlin script. Just the history they would rather you didn't remember.

My latest commentary examines how Vietnam’s ambitious growth agenda is increasingly outpacing its ability to mobilise capital at a reasonable cost, due to both domestic and external constraints. Hanoi therefore faces a difficult choice. fulcrum.sg/article/commentar…
