If I had a nickel for every time a 49-year-old hot blonde dilf has the biggest fandom in 2026, I'd have three nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened three times.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 may have delivered one of the series’ strongest campaigns in years, but the player-count story is looking considerably less rosy.
📉 Reportedly down 32% vs. Black Ops 7 on Xbox
📉 Roughly 30% fewer concurrent players than Black Ops 6’s launch peak on Steam
Is it COD fatigue, stronger competition, or has $70 become a tougher sell without Game Pass?

*studio collapses
Don’t Nod, the studio behind the original Life is Strange, is collapsing.
The French developer is facing a near-total layoff, up to 85 jobs, which would leave its French teams with only a small number of employees.
The studio has struggled with a string of underperforming releases, the most recently the sci-fi adventure Aphelion.
Don’t Nod has warned that it may not have enough funding to continue operating beyond January 31, 2027, and has entered a French “safeguard” procedure to restructure its finances.

The funniest bit GRRM does is bring up a house that hasn't been relevant to the story and very off handledly mention something crazy about them. "Oh yeah this house has a horn that summons monsters from the depths and everyone wants it", hey George, can we come back to that
Friendly reminder we killed a bunch of civilians in OG MW2 just because... we could???
The "Call of Duty" movie based on "Modern Warfare" will not feel like a superhero film because the story is about "the cost of war and having to be a warrior."
“If you really look at the missions and the storylines and the characters like Captain Price, Soap, Ghost and Alex, these are complicated humans. These are not, and no disrespect, cartoon characters or comic books," says director Peter Berg. "These are very nuanced storylines; there’s a real soul to the ‘Modern Warfare’ universe. Yes, there’s violence and hardware and equipment and killing. But underneath it, I think the game, and the creators of the game, are really looking at the cost of war, the cost of having to be a warrior who’s, for whatever reason, chosen to put himself between real danger and the rest of us, and the burden that these guys carry.”

When your story is so bad and inconsistent the whole fanbase is starting to hate your cash cow. That's when you know your franchise is in deep shit and you have serious problems.
Deserved.
