Holy sh1t. I've been talking about this FOR DECADES. So glad a US Senator is bringing it up noe.
James Talarico traces 50 years of trickle-down back to one 1971 document, the Powell memo, a corporate blueprint to buy power “In fact, you can, you can pinpoint this one document called the Powell memo, 1971.” “But if you read this memo, it's basically a blueprint for how corporate interests can start to dismantle the Great Society and the New Deal” “They're going to spend massive amounts of money in our politics, buying politicians in both parties, elevate corporate voices in media, appoint sympathetic judges.” “And that has really been the story of the last 50 years in this country, last five decades.” w/ @jamestalarico

I see this misleading image being shared around. Ossoff hasn’t taken a single dollar from AIPAC. This 900k comes from JStreet, which is an anti-Netanyahu progressive Jewish advocacy group that has also given money to Bernie Sanders in the past.

Pretty astounding: at the moment, the *only* Senate or House Republican who appears to be outperforming the 2024 presidential margin in their state/district is Susan Collins... and she's only doing so by 0.5 points.

Dear @RepJeffries, pls do not extend the PTC. That money goes directly to the big insurance companies. The law allows them to keep 15pct of the 26b as profit. But it gets worse. They can game that number with their subsidiaries. They will deny care and make patients fight to get the care they need. With or without the PTC the deductibles are unaffordable, and the max patient OOP is worse. If you can't pay the deductible, all you did is give the money for free to the insurance companies that we should break up What should we do ? See my next week for some suggestions
Leader Jeffries: We also need to extend the ACA tax credits, which have resulted in tens of millions of folks losing health care or being forced to pay premiums that, in some cases, have increased by up to $1000 or more a month. These are working class Americans, or middle-class Americans, who are having to bear the brunt of this dramatic increase in health care costs.

For those who say it’s time for universal care. I am all for it. It would be nice if we could find a way to reduce the cost of care and make it available to everyone, for anything. But it will take work to get there. Other countries with Universal Care make “Most Things available to All People”. It’s not perfect. In our country, we make “Everything available to Most People”. The question for this country, unlike others, is how we can make the best possible care and therapies, regardless of cost, to everyone ? Read @AbdulElSayed ‘s book on Medicare for All. He wisely had more questions than answers. Medicare for All ? Global Budgets ? Or something else ? It’s a difficult path from where we are to “E4E” Healthcare. ?Everything for Everyone) My hope is that we can put together a Simpson Bowles type, Blue Ribbon Commission. One that includes representatives of all stakeholders. From all different type of patients. Including rare disease parents. Rural and Urban Hospitals. The most expensive hospitals that offer unique care. Pharma companies that offer everything from genetics to Cell and Gene Therapies. You get the point Some people think we can just tell all those working in the healthcare system what to do. That’s the fastest way for this to fail. We need to be as close as we can to being on the same page. And we need to figure out a non partisan manner of running our American version of Universal Care. No reason we can’t start now

TEXAS ELECTION NIGHT WARNING!!!! James Talarico could jump out to an EARLY lead over Ken Paxton when Harris County reports its votes. Then Paxton could surge ahead as dozens of smaller Republican counties report their results. BUT DON’T PANIC! More Democratic votes from Dallas and Harris could arrive hours later, putting Talarico back in the lead. Dallas was still counting Election Day votes after 5 a.m. in the March primary. We could be waiting until Wednesday morning to know who won Texas (if it’s a close race). We know in advance this could happen. It’s completely normal and reflects the order votes are reported. If Talarico has a comeback and wins after late votes come in, Trump will absolutely claim election fraud. Ignore him and share this post with the election deniers.

Union Vice President here✊🏻 We support our union brothers and sisters by voting for candidates who support workers, worker’s rights and unions. Your vote for a union busting candidate is a slap in the face to every union member. Shameful and disgusting.
Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien here. Just voted in the State of Florida for the first time, and very proud to have cast a ballot for @SenAshleyMoody. Sen. Moody has been extremely helpful working with the Teamsters to protect workers’ pensions, defend good-paying jobs, and support well-funded union apprenticeship programs. The Teamsters look forward to working with Sen. Moody in her role on the Senate HELP Committee to pass the Faster Labor Contracts Act and get this critical legislation signed into law to protect American workers.
